With another heatwave underway, now is the ideal time to get your hands on a fan to help bring the temperature down in your home

With temperatures high – and staying that way – this week, many people will be desperately looking for ways to stay cool. I’ve always struggled with finding the right temperature no matter the weather; I’m always too hot or too cold. However, I might have finally found a good solution.

I bought a £19.99 fan from Home Bargains last year and pulled it out of winter retirement this week to deal with a heatwave. And what a lifesaver it has been.

Cool, compact and quiet, the fan has proven to be a must-have that I couldn’t live without. The Pifco 32″ Oscillating Tower Fan is also incredibly cheap for what you get, especially considering the high price tags often attached to similar devices.

The fan stands around 84cm tall, making it discreet enough to have in any room and compact enough to store away when not being used. It is much more powerful that a desk fan or some of the smaller devices you’ll find on the high street, but may not be quite as impressive as a Dyson or Shark product.

However, the tower fan is still relatively strong, releasing an impressive amount of airflow, making it perfect for use in almost any situation. It comes with three speed settings and an oscillating function.

Super easy to use, the fan is operated using a dial on the top, and can be set to levels one, two or three, in a fixed position or oscillating. It is mains powered, making it easy to move around into different rooms in your home.

The three impressive speeds mean I can swap and change depending on how I feel or how warm it is. I can keep it on one to enjoy a gentle breeze when I’m working at my desk, ramp it up if I’m busy around the house, or switch it up to three for those incredibly warm evenings when I’m struggling to sleep.

I can also confirm that it really is quiet and it just emits just a gentle hum, so low that I’m able to sleep through it.

However, the only thing that lets the product down is the somewhat short power cable. It is only around a metre long, which makes it difficult for those with plug sockets that are few and far between.

The £19.99 fan is a great buy and can be snapped up in Home Bargains stores now. If your local store doesn’t have stock or you don’t mind waiting a few days, the retailer stocks the fan online too.

Some shoppers could be eligible for Home Bargains’ free Saver Delivery option when spending £100 online. The retailer offers ‘hassle free’ returns to stores too.

Home Bargains also stocks a range of other fans, including the £16.99 Pifco 16″ Stand Fan or the smaller Pifco 14″ Oscillating Tower Fan for £14.99. For those who prefer a much smaller, personal cooling device, there’s the £2.99 Pifco 4″ USB Mini Desk Fan or the Pifco Clip-On Fan , priced at £7.99.
