The affordable M&S bags have been hailed as ‘beautiful’ and ‘very stylish’ in reviews, and content editor Melisha Kaur couldn’t agree more
Marks and Spencer has got the biggest trends sorted with its latest fashion range. With longer days finally here, the high-street favourite’s latest offerings are sure to begin selling out as shoppers prepare their wardrobes for the warmer season, including its ‘perfect’ new woven bags.
When browsing the newly launched M&S collection at my local branch, I came across a striking range of accessories that couldn’t be more summery. The exact gems I spotted were this Straw Woven Top Handle Cross Body Bag, £29.50, and the Woven Top Handle Shopper, £25.
Both bags are offered in colours that will no doubt spark a bit of joy in your outfits this season. My favourite, however, was the woven shopper bag – and it seems to be popular with other customers as well. Online reviews of the £25 item are glowing, earning it an average 4.8 out of five star-rating.

Available in natural, bright-pink or lime colourways, the Woven Top Handle Shopper provides a beachy look with a roomy, lined interior. It has a top handle for easy carrying, while a drawstring fastening keeps your belongings safe and secure.
Similar options can be found at Next, where this Natural Large Raffia Shopper Bag costs £48, and River Island, whose Yellow Woven Shopper Bag is down to £12 (was £30).
In a five-star review of the product, one happy shopper said: “Beautiful summer/beach bag – bang on trend, just can’t wait for the warmer weather.” A second delighted fan added: “Stylish lightweight bag ideal for evening out, day trip or beach.”
A third person hailed it as ‘perfect’ and wrote: “Bought for my son’s girlfriend’s birthday, she loved it! She thought the inside pocket was great.”
Someone else claimed they had to make adjustments, but was still happy with their purchase. They said: “Loved this bag, I sew a few stitches inside to hold lining from moving, great colour very stylish price really good.”
Meanwhile, the Straw Woven Top Handle Cross Body Bag – which comes in bright-pink or natural hues – hasn’t received any reviews online yet. Aside from the cross-body strap and top handle, its other practical features include a zip-fastening, a lined interior and a handy zipped pocket.
My only qualm with the cross-body bag is that it doesn’t have a great amount of space compared to the woven shopper. If you require more room for your essentials, it’s definitely worth going for the bigger option, plus it has more colours to choose from.
The Woven Top Handle Shopper costs £25 on the M&S website here, or you can go for the Straw Woven Top Handle Cross Body Bag here for £29.50. Alternatively, The White Company’s Straw Basket Bag is a pricier option at £69, while Accessorize’s Raffia Tote Bag is priced at £30.40 (was £38).
