Olivia Love, 37, from Glasgow, won £120,000 on the National Lottery’s Set for Life game and decided to quit her job at a supermarket, but didn’t manage to save any of the money.
Winning the lottery is a major thing to happen to someone, it can often be a life changing moment, one filled with joy, anticipation, but also fear.
Over the years, many people have won the lottery and some have used that money to invest in themselves and businesses to keep that money growing. On the other hand, some have spent it all and ended up in poverty.
As a result, it is always fascinating when someone wins the lottery, because you don’t quite know what they’ll do next. In the case of one Glaswegian woman who won £10,000 a month for a year, she decided to reinvest in herself and her relationship, and says she has no regrets about spending all of it.
Olivia Love, 37, was the individual who won the money. Originally working in a supermarket at the time of the triumph, she decided to quit her job and pursue a career as a wedding content creator after winning the Lottery Set for Life scheme.
Her May 2025 win entitled her to £10,000 monthly payments for an entire year, amounting to £120,000 in total. Once the 12-month period concluded, the payments ceased.
Following her victory, Olivia chose not to dramatically change her lifestyle and instead decided to invest in her partner and her “dream job” instead.
The mother of four told Business Insider: “Money was always a source of stress. I’d say we were on the breadline. We always had enough to pay the rent and the bills, but there was never anything left over at the end of the month.”
Olivia used the money to achieve financial stability and security. However, they still allowed themselves some treats from time to time. Olivia admitted she and her husband had a second wedding ceremony and swapped his old car for something slightly better.
Following that, Olivia chose to invest in herself and become a wedding content creator. Discussing her investment in the venture, she explained: “In the first six months, I spent about £7,500 setting up Moments by Love.
“I bought everything I needed, from new phones to microphone equipment. I did my first few weddings for free or very cheaply to build up a portfolio. You have to spend money to make money.”
The Moments by Love website defines a wedding content creator as “a professional who captures and curates digital content during a wedding day”.
Olivia added on the platform that her goal is “to document the vibe and personality of the wedding in a way that’s focused on capturing the candid moments of the day without interrupting the flow of your wedding day”.
When the final instalment came through this April, Olivia admitted it was sad. However, she insists she harbours no regrets about investing the full £120,000, as it provided financial stability for her loved ones and launched her dream career.
She remarked: “In the end, I made the decision that was right for my career, for me, and for my family. I didn’t save any of our winnings. I could have, but because we’d struggled for so long, I don’t regret a thing about choosing to live our best lives.”
