I decided to switch to a brand with more meat content – and I’ve noticed a real difference in my cats energy levels
I’d recently grown tired of my go-to cat food brand, Felix, and fancied switching to something with a meatier composition. I’d previously fed my cats Untamed, which I was genuinely impressed by and still purchase the occasional tin, but it’s incredibly pricey, particularly when you’ve got multiple moggies.
That’s when I stumbled upon Harringtons, readily available online and in selected shops, but also available to purchase straight from their website.
It’s a homegrown pet food company that creates natural, nutritious grub for dogs and cats. It offers both dry and wet varieties, including grain-free and well-balanced options.
It emphasises quality nutrition, environmental responsibility, and affordability. Having properly investigated what actually went into my cats’ current food, it was an obvious decision for me to experiment with something different.
I don’t reckon it’s significantly pricier than Felix, either, which was something that concerned me whilst exploring alternative food brands.
It’s £16.50 for 40 pouches of wet food, versus Felix’s Doubly Delicious, which costs £15, so it’s merely £1.50 more.
For that extra quid-fifty, I’m providing superior quality, more nourishing food for my felines. Harringtons explained: “At Harringtons, we believe in making mealtimes meatier, that’s why each pouch is packed with freshly prepared meat and fish, and nutritious animal protein.
“We only use natural ingredients and never add artificial colours or flavours, either, so sleep easy knowing you’ll be taking good care of them with Harringtons. No nonsense, just natural goodness for all.”
Upon examining the contents, I discovered that Harringtons pouches boast 32% freshly prepared beef and chicken, in stark contrast to Felix’s mere 14%.
Given that cats are carnivores, they require the highest meat content possible, and whilst premium brands such as Untamed and KatKin offer superior nutrition for felines, they’re simply beyond reach for numerous pet owners, financially.
I gradually introduced my cats to the new food to prevent any digestive issues, but they were absolutely smitten with Harringtons despite its more pungent aroma. I’m equally impressed with the brand, and I can’t envisage changing anytime soon.
From the customer care to the presentation to the composition, it ticks every box you’d expect from quality cat food.
There’s an impressive range of options available too, whether your moggy favours fish, poultry, jelly or gravy.
I also secured 25% off my purchase on the day, which brought a box of 40 pouches down to just under £12.50, representing exceptional value. You can additionally register for recurring deliveries, which reduces the price even more.
I don’t feel like I’m overstretching my budget with Harringtons, yet I’m confident my cats are consuming superior quality nutrition.
My moggies are noticeably more lively and less ravenous since abandoning Felix, and I’d urge fellow pet owners to investigate what they’re genuinely feeding their companions.
