Woman shares amazement at results of mum’s basic skincare routine

Many people may be fooled into thinking the more expensive skincare will be more effective – but one 73-year-old is living proof that’s not the case.

On TikTok, Kate Keogh proudly showed off her mum Jane, exclaiming that she’d never had any botox or filler, and she looked in her 50s – and many will be wondering what her secret is.

Kate referred to her mum as a “Nivea queen”, but it wasn’t just the Nivea that Jane could thank for her flawless face – it was a bar of Imperial Leather soap, which she said her mother also used to use.

Two bars of Imperial Leather soap can be purchased from Sainsbury’s for just £1.15, meaning that each bar costs around 60p. A four-pack can be purchased from Savers for £2, meaning each bar is 50p.

“Literally soap and Nivea, and you have the most amazing skin”, Kate gushed. The Nivea cream that she used is £1.50 on Amazon and £2.49 from Boots, and can be used on both the face and body, so is great if you’re looking for a multipurpose product. The product claims to “provide the skin with all the protective care it needs to stay soft and supple”, and Jane is proof of that.

Kate said it’s a “thick moisturising cream”, hailing it as “such a good base for your make-up”. She continued: “If it’s kept you looking this young at 75”, but Jane was quick to point out that she wasn’t 75, saying: “Excuse me?!”, and the pair started laughing.

In the comments, Imperial Leather’s TikTok account said: “Adding flawless glow to the list of reasons we love the bar soap.” Nivea’s account commented: “Wow, Jane is a NIVEA Queen, and doesn’t she look incredible for it! Simple skincare works best”, and many agreed. Comments included “Influencer queen, I’ve just started with the Nivea blue cream”, “The amount of older women who just use either Nivea, Astral, Ponds, Vaseline- and look fantastic”, and “My dad’s skincare was Imperial Leather and Nivea and his skin is literally so soft”.
