Say farewell to 12-step skincare routines with expensive serums and cleansers. It turns out, all you need for flawless skin is a £2 cream that you may already have lying around the house

The ‘lazy girl glow up’ skincare routine is blowing up, and for good reason.

In recent years, our skincare routine has kind of gotten out of hand. It’s no longer a shock to see an influencer reel off 15 products they religiously apply every morning, in the never-ending sprint for glassy skin. We’re bombarded by new chemicals, new techniques, and new products that all promise to reduce our pores, remove blackheads, and leave us with a flawless complexion.

But if you’re tired of double cleansing and slathering yourself in retinol and vitamin C (please don’t mix those two) you might want to try out a £2 holy grail that people are claiming completely transformed their skin.

Taking to TikTok, lifestyle expert Lauren showed how her pimple-ridden skin is now clear and less irritated. “I’ve got to be honest, most mornings, I don’t actually do anything to my skin because I don’t think it needs it,” she said in a recent video.

“I’m going to let you into a little lazy girl glow-up secret. I exfoliate with a towel. A clean towel. It’s literally free and exfoliates the perfect amount.” Lauren then reveals the ‘star’ of the Lazy Girl glow-up: the humble Nivea Soft Cream.

“Some people were asking if it sits on your skin or is greasy at all,” she added. “I’m literally touching my face right now, and I can’t feel a thing. My skin just feels moisturized.” Lauren also applies an SPF if she’s going outside but that’s the extent of her skincare routine. “I swear to you, that is literally it,” she said.

You can pick up NIVEA Soft Moisturising Cream from most beauty retailers. Boots is currently selling a 75ml bottle for just £2, while a larger 500ml tub from Superdrug will set you back £6.89.

Hundreds of viewers flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts – with many hailing the stripped-back approach to skincare. “Thank you. It was useful advice,” one user wrote. “My skin just got better after three days!”

Another agreed, commenting: “After spending a lot of money on pricey skincare I ended up using the Nivea soft cream blue tub cause the results are WAY better than the pricey skincare.” A third added: “I’m obsessed with Nivea soft – won’t ever use anything else now.” While a fourth wrote: “That’s why I just use Nivea Soft nowadays cos my skin is so weird with what I use.”
