Mould can be so hard to shift, especially in bathrooms where moisture quickly builds up, but these two handy products from Amazon left it spotless in minutes
Damp and mould can easily accumulate in homes during this time of year, and it can be a real challenge to get rid of. Bathrooms are particularly susceptible due to the moisture from baths and showers, quickly becoming a breeding ground for mould.
Despite having an extractor fan or opening windows post-bath or shower, unsightly patches of mould can still appear. This is exactly what’s been happening in my bathroom, and it’s progressively worsened over the past few weeks.

I opted to use a mould spray that I’ve previously found effective at eliminating black mould and mildew. The HG Mould Spray is suitable for tiles, silicon joints, and plasterwork, making it perfect for tackling areas where I typically struggle to remove the mould, primarily around the coving.
However, reaching every nook and cranny can still be difficult, which is why I decided to purchase a gadget from Amazon. The Telescopic Bathroom Cleaner extends to easily reach the ceiling and those hard-to-reach areas. It comes with three different pads, so you can choose the one best suited for your surface.
I found the microfibre mop head to be the most effective as I could thoroughly spray it with the mould remover and reach all the nooks and crannies of the artex ceiling, which isn’t the best type of ceiling for a bathroom due to all the crevices where moisture can become trapped. The other pads are quite useful too, the scrubber pad for those stubborn bits that won’t shift and the microfibre pad for rinsing over everything to remove any residue.
They’ve got velcro on the back so they’re easy to attach and despite my initial thoughts that they would move around during use, they stayed put even when scrubbing. The bathroom looks much cleaner now that it’s all been removed, allowing us to paint the ceiling and coving for a fresh look, knowing we’re not just painting over the issue.
An extractor fan is needed to prevent the build up in the first place, but that’s a task for another day. At least this clean Telescopic Bathroom Cleaner will help us keep the problem at bay for now and it was relatively inexpensive, costing £9.97. It’s something I’ll use for general cleaning as well because I can quickly go over the tiles with it.
The HG Mould Spray is also available on Amazon, where it has thousands of five-star reviews, and costs £5.38 for a 500ml bottle. Other retailers offer similar wall and ceiling mops, including B&Q, where this set with an adjustable rod costs £12, and Debenhams, where a similar set costs £12.34, reports the Manchester Evening News.
