Beauty editor Laura has already got her hands on Elemis’s 2024 Ultimate Skincare Advent Calendar, and had a peek inside – here’s her honest review…
This year’s beauty advent calendars have started dropping and, with many not exactly cheap, it can be hard to know which ones are worth the money. I’ve been lucky enough to already have a look through some of them so I can let you know which ones have really wowed me this year – including Elemis’s epic skincare selection.
Elemis’s 2024 Christmas countdown is called The Ultimate Skincare Advent Calendar and is available to buy from the Elemis website. It’s priced at £199 and contains 25 drawers filled with skin and body treats worth £537 in total, including a full size 50ml pot of Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, worth £95 just on its own.
15 lucky customers will also find a golden ticket hidden inside, winning you £1,000 worth of Elemis products. Alas, I wasn’t one of them, but I have had a good look through all the drawers, and I’m impressed – and I know my mum’s going to love it this year. Here’s my full review…
Charlotte Tilbury’s 2024 advent calendar has just dropped – and this year’s is the best yet
The packaging
As you’d expect from a high-end brand like Elemis, the box itself looks elegant and luxe, in jewel colours of blue, green and red and with gold foil writing. The front panel opens up to reveal 25 slide-out drawers (an immediate thumbs up, as some advent calendars only go up to 24 December).
I like that this design is fairly compact and, when its doors are closed, doesn’t take up much space, and it’s definitely sturdy enough to be used again in future years.
The contents
Now onto the most important part: what you get inside. I won’t go through every product (you can find a full list of the contents here) but if you love skincare, you’ll love this. It’s mainly products for the face, with a few pampering treats for the body too, such as Skin Nourishing Milk Bath and Frangipani Monoi Body Oil.
The star of the show undoubtedly comes inside drawer number 25: a 50ml tub of Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, a big enough pot to last you well into 2025. Other highlights for me include three different travel-size varieties of Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, Pro-Collagen Morning Matrix (a lightweight day cream) and Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads, perfect for travel.
The value
Priced at £199, this isn’t the cheapest advent calendar you can buy, but if you love luxury skincare (and, obviously, Elemis skincare in particular) you’re getting a lot of beauty for your buck; over £530 worth, saving you over £330. Aside from a couple of ‘filler’ drawers containing a flannel and a headband, everything is a product that I’d genuinely be excited to open and would use, making this one of my best advent calendars for 2024.
If, however, you are looking for a cheaper skincare selection, Boots Skincare Advent Calendar 24 Days Of Skincare, is a good option – it costs £65 but is worth over £242.
And if you fancy trying lots of different brands, the LOOKFANTASTIC Iconic Beauty Advent Calendar 2024 gives you a similar value to the Elemis one but for half the price.
