When it comes to saving money, there’s one day of the year when you could absolutely enjoy dozens of treats without spending a penny – and the good news is that day is your birthday
Even if you don’t have friends and family to spoil you rotten, you can take advantage of all the birthday freebies on offer from pubs, restaurants and retailers looking to reward you for being a customer. And believe me, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
While your birthday is the one day of the year that you can drink, eat and be pampered to your heart’s content, it’s best not to leave the planning right up until the last minute. To get your hands on dozens of freebies on your birthday you will need to be organised. It’s also a good idea to download the apps and sign up for the newsletters at least a few weeks in advance – so you can get ready to celebrate your special day in style!
Bear in mind that if you don’t want to be bombarded with emails after signing up to newsletters and reward schemes, you can always set up a specific email address just for your freebies and newsletters. My birthday was in February and although I just didn’t have the time – or appetite – to enjoy all these birthday freebies I did get through a fair amount!
Birthday freebies you can claim from retailers:
Costa Coffee– If you sign up to the Costa Coffee app using a referral code you will get a free cake when it is your birthday, plus 5 ‘beans’ towards a free coffee
Krispy Kreme – Krispy Kreme offers a free doughnut on your birthday if you’re a member of their rewards program.
Hotel Chocolat – If you download the Hotel Chocolat app you can register for its VIP club to get a ‘surprise gift’ – usually £5 off if you spend £5 or more on your birthday.
Burger King – you can grab a free Whopper or Plant-based Whopper burger for members of the Your Burger King loyalty scheme.
Greggs – The chain offers a free sweet treat on your birthday if you download the Greggs app and join the Greggs Rewards loyalty scheme. The treat can be a cookie, doughnut, cupcake, or cream cake.
Lidl – Download Lidl Plus for a free doughnut from the in-store bakery. The coupon is valid for 7 days from your birthday and you’ll find it in your Lidl Plus account.
Frankie and Benny’s – Frankie & Benny’s offers a free main meal to guests celebrating their birthday when they order two or more mains the cheapest main dish is free.
Bella Italia – newsletter subscribers receive: a free main when you sign up and a voucher worth £15 as a birthday treat
Shepherd Neame pubs – Sign up as a member of the club and they’ll send you a voucher for a free meal on your birthday.
Las Iguanas – Sign up to their mailing list at least a week before your birthday, and be treated to a surprise birthday freebie. This could be a free main course or even a bottle of bubbly!
Brewer’s Fayre – You’ll get a free meal voucher to celebrate your birthday, every year but you must remain opted in to emails to receive your offers.
Beafeater – Beefeater sends a free meal voucher to members of its Grill Reward Club who are opted in to receive emails.
TGI Fridays -Stripes Rewards Members get two birthday treats at TGI Fridays. Tell them your birthday and they’ll send you a treat for your half Birthday too
All Bar One – Sign up and you can get a bottle of prosecco on your birthday.
Lindt – A voucher to redeem in Lindt Chocolate Shops or online on your birthday.
Body Shop – You will receive a £5 reward voucher, via email on your birthday to spend in-store on anything you like. Birthday reward vouchers will expire after 1 month.
