The Metropolitan Police is hunting a man who is said to have stabbed another in a restaurant on Walm Lane, Willesden Green in northwest London on Tuesday night

This shocking footage captures the alarming moments in the lead-up to a stabbing in a restaurant – and social media users have compared the scenes to those in computer game Grand Theft Auto.

A motorist pursued another driver before getting out of his vehicle to knife the victim. The victim, who is in his 20s, went to hospital with stab wounds following the carnage in Willesden Green, northwest London, on Tuesday night. Commenting on the footage online, one Londoner said: “GTA (Grand Theft Auto).” Another wrote: “What the f**k has happened to London? I lived there for 11 years, and I’m so glad I don’t anymore. What a s**t hole.”

Police are hunting the knifeman who followed his victim in his car. This led to the victim swerving his car into a parked vehicle along Walm Lane in the Willesden Green area.

These events preceded the stabbing in the restaurant, Metropolitan Police said. The force is following all lines of enquiry, which are thought to include the 18-second video showing the aftermath of the crash.

The front of the Audi is seen heavily damaged and with two wheels on the ground in the mobile phone footage. Other shocked drivers are seen getting out of their cars amid the chaos.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 9:06 pm on Tuesday, 1 April, to reports of a stabbing inside a restaurant in Walm Lane, Willesden. A man in his 20s then self-presented to the hospital with stab wounds. His condition is not life-threatening or life-changing.”

They added: “It is believed the victim was driving his car when he was followed by the suspect in another vehicle. A collision took place, and the victim ran into the restaurant where he was stabbed. No arrests have been made at this time. But officers continue to follow all available lines of enquiry.”

Grand Theft Auto is an action-adventure video game where the player can complete missions to progress an overall story, as well as engage in various side activities.

Most of the gameplay revolves around driving and shooting, with occasional role-playing and stealth elements. It has, over the years, faced criticism for its violent themes and adult nature, with frequent cut content showing fighting and anti-social behaviour.
