The victim of a devastating explosion in Scotland has been pictured for the first time.
Graham Green was the fatal victim of an explosion and fire that consumed flats in Alloa, Clackmannanshire around 6pm on Sunday. Though formal identification is yet to take place, the 50-year-old’s family has been informed.
As well as the deceased, three more victims – two men, aged 72 and 19, and a 49-year-old woman – were treated at Forth Valley Hospital for injuries sustained in the explosion. Police are treating the death as unexplained and said that enquiries are ongoing.
Chief Inspector Kat Thompson, area commander, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Graham and all those affected at this difficult time. Our enquiries, alongside partner agencies, to establish the full circumstances of what happened, remain ongoing. A police presence will remain in the area and I would like to thank the local community for their understanding and support.”
Family member Betty Green led the tributes on social media, she penned: “On behalf of me and my family it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Graham Green (Greenie). We want to thank all of the emergency services involved during this tragic event. The family and I would also like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support and condolences at this difficult time. Slàinte Mhath Graham.”
While Louise Johnston wrote: “Thank you to all emergency services and support from everyone during this tragic time.” Cheryl Mack Hart also paid tribute, she wrote: “So so sad R.I.P Greeny. Thoughts are with his family and friends.” Tracey Beedie added: “Oh my God no way! R.I.P greeny.” Jessica Money said: “So sad RIP x thoughts are with the gentlemen’s family at this time x” Sheena Mcintosh said: “Rip Greeny so sad.”
The area where the explosion occurred has been cordoned off as work continues to make the two-storey building safe and a small number of residents who were evacuated are unable to access their homes, reports the Daily Record. Ellen Forson, the leader of Clackmannanshire Council, said the initial investigations suggested the wider area was safe. She said: “I think that local people should expect some disruption in the coming days, just to allow the investigation to take place and to make sure that nothing is disturbed that’s important.” Rosie Adamson, who lives on Kellie Place, said she was terrified after hearing the horror sounds and ran to her window to see what was going.
