People have managed to eliminate mould and condensation from their homes using this

Screwfix is selling an affordable household gadget that handles one of the most common issues affecting UK homes during the winter. Shoppers have said that, after being set up for just a few days, they are “already seeing the benefits” and others have been so impressed by the results that they now have “one in every room”.

With the weather remaining bitterly cold across the UK, homeowners may be struggling to combat condensation and mould problems while keeping themselves warm. The battle may seem challenging, as cold air hitting warm windows leads to condensation that soon becomes mould and damp, but using devices like a dehumidifier can help.

Setting up items like these around troublesome areas could leave spaces feeling “bone dry” without compromising on warmth and comfort – and that’s what Screwfix customers are saying about a £11 dehumidifier. The Unibond Aero Moisture Absorber is designed to “prevent common damp problems such as condensation, mould and musty smells”.

The product claims to last for “up to three months” and works without needing to be plugged in. It absorbs moisture and collects the liquid in its one litre tank, turning the water a vibrant blue so homeowners can keep an eye on when the tank needs emptying.

There are similar items available that don’t require a plug-in device, such as B&Q’s £7.50 dehumidifier that shoppers say ‘works wonders’ and gets rid of mould and condensation in ’48 hours’. But, the Screfix option may also be something to consider, as it has just as many rave reviews.

One shopper said: “I bought one of these a few days ago and I am seeing the benefits already. The moisture drawn from the air is collected, and the water collected turns blue, so it is easy to monitor. A huge plus is that it is cheaper than Amazon.”

Another put: “Excellent product, works well after a couple of days. I installed it in my summer house after getting a lot of condensation with very wet and damp weather, now dry as a bone now. I fully recommend. I have two units to make sure, though, with it being outside.”

A third posted: “Useful for keeping condensation down during winter months.” Someone else put in their review: “Does what it says on the packet, brilliant. I have four now – one in every room.”

And, a fifth person said: “Bought two of these for windows that always seem to have condensation on them on autumn/winter mornings. I have used them for a few days, and the windows have been dry so far, so I’m really pleased.”

However, some people had a few issues. One claimed: “Used overnight next to windows that have condensation on. This had no effect at all. Small amount of water in the collection tank but windows were as wet as ever.”

Another suggested: “It’s a waste of money. Seriously, don’t bother. If anything, get the portable unit. They cost more, but they work.” A third person mentioned: “The blue dye from the water has tinged my plug hole and tap fittings a blueish colour in parts. It’s awkward to empty and blue water goes everywhere!”
