Shoppers are rushing to snap up a summer fly trap that catches ‘hundreds of flies’ – and it’s currently discounted on Amazon. The Zero In outdoor fly trap is currently available for £20.99, down from £23.98, and it’s listed as an Amazon’s Choice product.
This price is for a twin-pack, with two in each pack, working out at around £5 per trap. They feature a unique four-way entry cap, the brand says, attracting flies from up to a 10-metre radius, and they are non-hazardous, giving shoppers ‘peace of mind’.
The refillable traps can catch up to 20,000 flies per setting, the listing says, with each trap offering two to three weeks of coverage. To use it, empty the enclosed bait into the trap, add 300ml of water and then hang it where it gets the most sunlight and the least wind. Two bait sachets are included per twin pack and, when the traps are done, dispose of them in a plastic bag with household refuse.
As an alternative, shoppers could grab this Vango Midge Rechargeable Bug Zapper & Lantern for £19.99 from Decathlon. This is described as a ‘versatile two-in-one recharge light and ultraviolet insect zapper which features a hanging hook for ease of use’.
Or at Robert Dyas, there’s this JML Double Zapper for £39.99. The site says this is a two-in-one insect-killing bug zapper that ‘terminates both flying insects and crawling pests’. It is said to be great for mosquitos, midges, flies, wasps and gnats.

The Zero In outdoor fly trap has received an overall average rating of 4.4 out of five stars from more than 21,000 reviews. One shopper said: “You’ll be shocked at how many flies these catch! These fly traps have been brilliant. I put them outside a few days ago and was genuinely surprised by how quickly they started working. They’ve already caught hundreds of flies and made a noticeable difference around the garden.
“They’re easy to set up, non-toxic and, once they’re in place, you can just leave them to do their job. The smell isn’t great when you’re filling them, but that’s clearly what attracts the flies so effectively. For the price, they’re excellent value and far more effective than I expected. I’d definitely buy them again.”
Someone else wrote as part of a longer review: “Really effective, working exactly as I hoped to keep flies out of the house in these warm days when all the doors and windows are open.” While a third added: “Excellent product. Says it works effectively after 24 hours, but after four hours, it had already collected a substantial amount of flies.”
The same person left some feedback, too, adding: “Only slight downside is they do get a bit smelly, but I can live with that as they do the job so well. As well as fewer flies in the garden, we’ve noticed fewer in the house too, even though the traps are at the end of the garden.”
