A Home Bargains shopper told others to “run, don’t walk” to stores to snap up the £25 boucle storage stool

Home Bargains has launched a new ottoman that looks very similar to a more expensive brand. The budget-friendly store is now stocking a boucle storage stool for £24.99.

The retailer’s Home Collections Ribbed Boucle Storage Stool looks just like a style from homeware brand Ivy Bronx Home, but at a fraction of the cost. Shoppers can snag the Home Bargains version for less than £25, while the Alphonza 48.2Cm Wide Round Storage Ottoman on carries a price tag of £179.99 at Wayfair online.

The two are almost identical, with similar boucle material and shape, as well as a detachable lid. However, the Wayfair stool is slightly taller than Home Bargains’ version, with more rings.

The Home Bargains product description reads: “From the beautiful plush panel detailing to the handy storage feature, the stool can be used anywhere around the home. To sit under your dressing table or to sit in your living-room this stool will be a great addition to your home.”

The Wayfair product description reads: “The Fuji storage ottoman by Ivy Bronx Home is a sweet addition of seating and organisation to your living room, bedroom, or entryway. The horizontal tufting gives this simple silhouette a unique, modern style while the trendy, plush boucle fabric adds an interesting layer of texture.

“The seat lifts away to reveal a storage area perfect for organizing toys, throws, and other knick-knacks to keep out of the way.”

TikTok user @ree22_k_r shared a clip of the new stool online, alongside the caption: “Teddy storage ottoman stool, what a bargain for £25.” Text over the video read: “Girls run, don’t walk to Home Bargains.”

While the Ivy Bronx Home ottoman is priced at £179.99 online, the Home Bargains Ribbed Boucle Storage Stool comes in at £24.99. This means shoppers could save around £155 by opting to snap up the bargain version.
