A body has tragically been found in the search for a man who vanished in south Devon.
Robert Sutton, 38, was reported missing from Paignton yesterday evening, sparking a major search by police, the RNLI and Coastguard.
Devon and Cornwall Police said they found the body of a man off Hollicombe Beach around 11.45pm last night. Robert’s family has been made aware of the discovery.
Formal identification is yet to take place but the man’s death is not believed to be suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner, reports Devon Live.
Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Emergency services searching for 38-year-old Robert Sutton, who had been reported missing from Paignton on the night of Saturday 16 May, have found the body of a man.
“Robert’s family have been informed of this development. Police, HM Coastguard and the RNLI conducted searches of the area after Robert was reported missing at around 7.40pm.
“The body of a man was found off Hollicombe Beach at around 11.45pm. Formal identification is yet to take place. The death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
