SAG Awards: Zendaya swerves Paul Mescal’s helping hand

In case you missed it, Zendaya’s latest movie, Challengers, has officially landed in cinemas, with the actress taking the leading role as a former tennis pro. Suffice to say, before it even hit our screens Zendaya’s impressive range of chic sporty ensembles had already inspired a whole new trend – tenniscore.

The aesthetic is all about taking classic on-court pieces and giving them a fresh new look that works whether you’re playing sports or heading out for dinner, and there’s one item from the style that’s proving to be the biggest sartorial hit of them all. Pleated tennis skirts are the standout piece from the tenniscore trend, and H&M’s brand new range is the perfect place to shop them if you want to get the look.

Whether you want something you can actually head to the court in or just want a day-to-day buy that’s easy to style, the range has quite literally got you covered. There are of course plenty of tennis whites in the range, but you can also opt for a more classic, understated black version, as well as more standout colours like baby blue and forest green.

If you’re after something that’s both flattering and versatile, the DryMove Circle-Cut Tennis Skirt, £18.99 here, is a guaranteed winner. Not only does it have a figure-skimming design that’s equal parts floaty and flattering, but it’s also suitable to wear for playing sports and comes in a choice of both white and black.

It’s made from H&M’s signature DryMove functional fabric which wicks away moisture to keep you cool and dry whilst also being super stretchy and comfortable to allow you to move freely. It also has built-in jersey hotpants underneath that not only protect your modesty, but have a handy ball pocket on one leg – just what you need on the court.

If you prefer a more structured look, the simple Tennis Skirt, £17.99 here, is going to serve you well – literally and aesthetically. It has a clean, straight cut with a side split for easy movement, as well as short inner tights complete with a ball pocket. You’ll need to be quick though, as there is only one size left in each of the three colourways!

If you’re happy to ditch the tennis whites, though, you can nab an almost identical style in black with the DryMove Tennis Mini Skirt, £18.99 here. Although it’s fully functional as a piece of athleisurewear, it also looks great styled for day-to-day occasions too.

On the website, H&M has styled it with a simply black crop top, black trainers and an oversized black gilet, completing the look with a coordinating black bow in the models hair. If that doesn’t prove how versatile the skirt is, we don’t know what will.

If you’re not bothered about actually being able to play tennis in your tennis skirt, we also love this ASOS DESIGN Pleated Tennis Mini Skirt In Light Grey, £15.40 here (was £22). It probably wouldn’t do you much good in a match, but is perfect for getting a more street style-worthy version of the look thanks to its classic pleated design and high waisted fit. It definitely takes serving looks to a whole new level!
