Some 83.9 million passengers travelled through the west London airport’s terminals last year, according to figures released by the airport operator.
Heathrow Airport has reached record-breaking passenger numbers, announcing that 2024 was its most bustling year with an impressive 83.9 million passengers passing through its terminals.
This number surpassed the previous year by 4.7 million and exceeded the former record set in 2019 by 3.0 million. Looking ahead, it forecasts a slight increase, expecting to handle 84.2 million passengers in 2025.
The airport is also committed to significant investment, planning to spend “over £1bnn again this year to make the airport fit for the future”. The chief executive of Heathrow, Thomas Woldbye, said: “2024 was an exciting and a record-breaking year at Heathrow.
“I’m proud of all my colleagues and our partners who worked so hard to deliver great experiences for more passengers than ever before.
“In 2025, our journey towards better value for our customers will continue by investing in the kind of facilities our passengers and airlines are looking for.”
Lastly, he underscored the airport’s commitment to innovation and contribution to the UK. He added: “We aim to become more innovative to ensure that our airport delivers for the whole of the UK.”
