James Digweed, 45, was found dead in his Bootle home after partner Aimee Sunter left for work – the first time she had returned to her job as a community carer after maternity leave

A devastated mum has paid tribute to her partner who was found dead aged 45. James Digweed was found dead by his mum Ann, after she went to the couple’s home in Bootle to go shopping with her son.

The dad-of-10 was found dead on February 10. Partner Aimee, 21, said the last time she saw James he said to her “I love you beautiful”, not knowing it would be the last time she would see him alive.

Aimee and James had welcomed their son, Brooklyn Sunter, just two months ago. Paying tribute to James, Aimee told the ECHO: “He was amazing, he used to do anything for anyone and everyone. He used to go above and beyond for everyone.

“He was one of a kind. He had trouble with his mental health but he never let it get the better of him, he liked to show people he was okay. James was a brilliant dad.”

James’ cause of death is not yet known and a post mortem examination is currently underway. However, while the family wait for answers as to how he died, they have planned a “celebration” to remember him.

She said: “He’s going to have a really good send off that he deserves to give back the love he gave to others. We’ve already organised everything, it’s all in place. We’ll be having the service at St James’ Church and he’ll be buried in Bootle Cemetery, then we’ll have the wake to celebrate his life.” A spokesperson for the coroner of Sefton Council confirmed they had been passed a file relating to the death of James Digweed.
