Police have launched a murder investigation and have arrested two people in connection to a man who was found stabbed to death inside a flat in Liverpool on Friday

A second person has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death inside a flat.

Merseyside Police were called to reports of an incident inside a block of flats in Haydock, Liverpool, at around 10.25pm on Friday. Police had arrested a 39-year-old woman from Billinge on suspicion of murder on Friday, who is still in custody, and have now revealed a 40-year-old man from Liverpool has also been arrested in connection to the death. In a new update on Saturday, Merseyside Police said: “Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing at an address in Haydock have arrested a second person.”

Officers, who attended the scene along with the North West Ambulance Service, found a man with stab injuries. A spokesperson for the force has since confirmed the man, in his 30s, has since died of his injuries, according to the Liverpool Echo.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We are in the early stages of investigating the incident and our enquiries are ongoing.”

The road was cordoned off and forensics officers and detectives were working at the scene.
