Police reportedly closed off a road after a pre-Christmas party descended in violence leaving “multiple people covered in blood” in the early hours of this morning
A road in Hanley has been blocked off after a pre-Christmas party reportedly descended into violence.
There were reports of “multiple people covered in blood” in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, in the early hours of this morning. One photo showed police on Stafford Street at about 4am.
One reader of Mirror affiliate StokeonTrentLive reported it had been “kicking off” in the early hours of the morning. The Reader told the outlet: “Yet again another weekend of a high police presence on Stafford Street where it was kicking off.
“Multiple people covered in blood. There were six police cars and one riot van and Stafford Street was closed at both ends for about 20 minutes.”
The case of reported violence comes after 20 people were involved in a brawl in Stafford Street last weekend. The Mirror has contacted Staffordshire Police for comment.
Last week CCTV captured a mass brawl in Hanley at about 4:10am on December 7. Two arrests were made amid investigations into the incident.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson told the StokeonTrentLive: “We’re appealing for witnesses to come forward after a fight happened outside a nightclub in Stoke-on-Trent involving about 20 people.
“At 4.10am in the morning on Saturday (December 7), CCTV captured a fight that started on Stafford Street in Hanley. People were punched, headbutted and stamped on during the disorder. We’re keen to speak to anyone with any information that can help with our investigation, particularly those who were in the area at the time.”
Following a probe, a 20-year-old man, of Stoke-on-Trent, was apprehended of common assault and displaying threatening and/or abusive behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was interviewed and released on conditional bail as the investigation continues.
A 20-year-old, from Newcastle, was arrested on suspicion of assauly by beating. The force said she has since been given an “adult restorative disposal.”
