Greggs fans have been left delighted by their Too Good To Go surprise bags recently – as one individual was able to get her hands on croissants, pastries, sandwiches, a pasta pot and Belgian buns for less than £3

A Greggs fan was left floored by the amount of food they were given after paying £2.59.

The frugal woman, Laura, decided to get a Too Good To Go bag to see what leftover Greggs items she could get her hands on without having to fork out. Too Good To Go helps food waste by offering discounted goodies that are close to their sell-by dates.

You can search through local restaurants and takeaways near you and find unsold food at heavily discounted prices. You get a time slot when you can pick up your surprise bag – and it’s pure luck as to what you get inside.

Typically people get a small bag filled with goodies from quick-service eateries. So imagine her surprise when Laura was given 20 doughnuts, six baguettes for less than £3, she said. She also got her hands on four classic Greggs savoury pastries, four croissants, a chicken a bacon pasta pot, and two Belgian buns.

A post she shared on a Too Good To Go Facebook page went viral recently. But they were branded a “liar” as fans of the money-saving food service insisted that you wouldn’t be able to get that amount of food in one bag. “That’s not just one bag,” said another. “They don’t give that much in one bag,” said another.

But it really just is luck of the draw. Another individual shared that they also got a lot for their money and left people stunned. They said they paid £5.90 for a Greggs Too Good To Go bag and were able to get their hands on four baguettes, two sandwiches, two Cajun rice bowls, eight doughnuts and four Belgian buns.

“Seven items per bag is really good, normally would be three of four,” said one. Another said the bag is “better than alright”. “Wow never had a bag like that from Greggs and I’ve had a few,” added one other.

One other commented: “Great bags, I do find Greggs give the best!” Another keen to get a good suprise bag wrote: “How do you get these I have tried them so many times an have only ever got four things. Sausage roll toast or fruit an muffin same every time.”

One other Too Good To Go user shared on the group that they paid £5.18 for two bags and got three bags of cookies, one croissant, 14 donuts, and a pack of four sausage rolls. “Good think I liked donuts because I’m stocked up,” they said.

Meanwhile another woman treated herself to the “most expensive” Too Good To Go bag – and it actually ended up being a bargain. Danielle, known on TikTok @charityshoplife, nabbed herself a haul of posh chocolate worth £90.61 from Rococo Chocolates in Chelsea – a chocolatier famed for “London’s finest chocolate and truffles” since 1992. With small boxes at Rococo costing an eye-watering £119, imagine her joy at scoring a massive 500g bag of premium delights for just £15.

Meanwhile another individual was impressed by Blank Street’s surprise bag; they tripled their money on it. Plus, another woman was left stunned by the 14 items she managed to bag for just £3.25 from Sayers via the Too Good To Go app.
