Willow Primary Academy in Gloucester went into lockdown as police responded to a man with a knife making threats

A primary school entered lockdown in Gloucester over a man with a knife making threats outside.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Evenlode Road around 11.15am yesterday. The incident is understood to have place near Willow Primary Academy.

A “large police presence” was seen in the area, and officers remained at the scene to support and reassure the school and local community, Gloucestershire Live reports.

Police believe the incident outside of the school is linked to an incident on Evenlode Road, where “a firearm” was seen in a vehicle in the area shortly before. The vehicle was a black Renault Clio, police said.

The men involved had no direct connection to the school, and it is being treated as an isolated incident. No one suffered any injuries during either incident, and enquiries into both are ongoing.

Police said no arrests have been made in connection with either incident. Officers are now appealing for anyone with information or who witnessed either incident to contact the force.

Gloucestershire Police said: “[Police] are particularly keen to hear from any witnesses who may have seen the car, which was in the area between 10.20am and 11.15am, or who has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage.
