Gatwick Airport is facing water supply problems at both terminals

Gatwick Airport has been left without running water across both terminals.

Travellers have reported issues with flushing toilets due to the shortage. People are also struggling to get tea or coffee at the airport.

Gatwick said it is giving bottled water to passengers and staff.

The shortage is understood to have come following an issue at SES Water’s Bough Beech Water Treatment Works. The firm said earlier that some customers were experiencing water shortages

Gatwick Airport said: “A water issue in the Horley area is causing disruption at the airport this morning. The problem is affecting water supply in both terminals and is currently under investigation.

“Bottled water is being made available to passengers and staff across the airport and other contingency measures are being put in place to ensure the welfare of our passengers.

“We will provide further updates and apologise for any inconvenience to passengers.”

It remains unclear when the water shortage will be resovled.

SES Water – which serves customers in Surrey, West Sussex, Kent and south London – said customers in TN8, TN11 and parts of RH1 were experiencing low water pressure or a loss of supply following the issue at Bough Beech Water Treatment Works.

The company is delivering bottled water to its most vulnerable customers while teams work to restore supplies, it added.
