The Verve family and sport grass seed mix normally retails at £16 from B&Q. However, there’s a little-known promotion that will actually slash the cost to 73p.

It’s available through the money-saving platform TopCashback, where new members receive a £15 sign-up cashback incentive when spending £15 at a participating store. This means that for new TopCashback members and all B&Q shoppers, the final price works out at 73p once cashback is factored in.

B&Q states the box provides an average total coverage of 60m2 and is “durable and hard wearing”. Fresh grass should start emerging within one to two weeks, while the non perennial ryegrass blends can require 14-21 days, reports Wales Online.

Customer reviews posted so far have been largely very favourable. One commented: “Bought this to patch in areas where the dogs have been running. Spreads well, noticed growth about two weeks later so really happy.”

Elsewhere, Wickes offers Gro-Sure’s Shady Lawn Seed, specifically formulated for areas receiving limited sunlight. However, a 300g box costing £9 only covers 10m2, making it more expensive than standard seeds.
