M&S Discover Eau de Parfum Intense gift set is offering shoppers the chance to try the bestselling intensified fragrances at £7.38 per bottle
As a perfume fanatic who owns more than 80 bottles, there’s no better time than the New Year to try out a new scent. And for those looking to expand their fragrance wardrobe, or discover a new signature spritz, M&S has launched a Discover Eau de Parfum Intense Gift Set for under £30.
Over the last couple of years, Marks and Spencer’s own brand Discover fragrances have slowly been gaining a loyal following – myself included. Their retailer has long been praised for their high-quality scents at accessible prices, and after the huge success of its Eau de Toilette range, the brand launched a collection of more concentrated, longer-lasting Eau de Parfums at the back end of last year.
Ten of the brand’s core offerings have been intensified as part of the new collection, which sees 50ml bottles come in at £16 each. The gift set, however, features four 30ml bottles, totalling 120ml overall, for £29.50 , or £7.38 per bottle.
Inside the set, shoppers will find four of M&S’s bestselling fragrances in their new intensified form, designed to offer extended wear on the skin. The edit includes Pink Pepper, Soft Iris, Warm Neroli and White Coconut.
Speaking on the set, Marks and Spencer said: “From sweet, fruity notes to spicy ambers, experimentation is a key part of finding the fragrance that suits you. ʽDiscoverʼ offers you a variety of scents mapped across the fragrance families for you to explore and find your perfect scent.”
Eau de Parfum Intense Gift Set
This Discover gift set features four 30ml Eau de Parfum Intense fragrance with extended wear on the skin. The collection includes Pink Pepper with spicy notes, Soft Iris with powdery tones, Neroli with sunlit accents, and White Coconut with creamy softness.
As someone who has tried the M&S perfumes , Soft Iris is one of my personal favourites. It’s a subtle, second-skin style fragrance that feels cosy and powdery. I actually purchased it for my mum for Christmas who complimented it when I was wearing it one afternoon.
It’s also the most-reviewed from customers, one of which commented: “Bought this as an alternative to more expensive perfumes and am very impressed. Smells lovely. It doesn’t last quite as long as more expensive perfumes but for the price you can afford to re-apply.”
One was disappointed at the longevity, despite being longer-wearing than the EDT version, writing: “Lovely perfume the only negative is it doesn’t last very long but love the smell and great price.”
The 30ml bottles are a great trial size as they’re generous enough to last, yet compact enough to slip into a handbag or travel case. White Coconut is a great option for trips away, offering creamy, holiday-in-a-bottle scent, while Warm Neroli, with notes of bergamot and musk, feels really elegant.
I’ve had the EDT version of Warm Neroli and regularly reach for it day to day, but do find that it needs regular top ups, so I’d certainly be inclined to opt for the new EDP version . Another fan of the scent commented on the new release, writing: “I love this perfume. It does last a while on my skin longer than the original. Nice bottle. Smells warm and comforting. Had some compliments wearing it. Smells expensive.”
Pink Pepper has also won fans for its impressive longevity and sophisticated feel. One reviewer commented that it “looks and smells expensive” and added: “For the price this perfume is well worth it.”
Meanwhile, for those who favour designer brands in their perfume collection, Sephora is offering this Fragrance Discovery Set, currently reduced to £63.20 . The set features eight miniature scents from prestigious names including Jo Malone and Prada, alongside Merit, Glossier and Who is Elijah.
At Cult Beauty, this Little Luxury Scents set is now over £100 less than the RRP. Worth over £125, it’s down to £21 and contains niche fragrances from the likes of Commodity and Fugazzi.
Back at M&S, the four-fragrance set strikes a balance between quality, quantity and value, with four 30ml scents for less than £8 each. Speaking on the gift set, one shopper commented: “Amazing quality and great size can throw it into my bag easily and they smell fantastic last all day and longer on clothes.”
Another said: “Well done M&S with this set of four mid-sized perfumes. Appreciated the opportunity to sample before purchasing a favourite full size version, yet they’re also a useful travel size.
“The standout star for me, in my humble opinion, is the sumptuously floral, feminine yet lasting gourmand Soft Iris – a light spritz is suitable for daytime or a longer spray onto clothing for the evening. I’m now assured to go on and give a full size bottle, as well as treat myself at this competitive price. The minis were quickly snapped up by my Granddaughter, surely an indicator the fragrances span all ages.”
A third said: “Beautiful perfumes and bottles lovely shape just a shame the price sticker was difficult to take off and ripped the front of the box.”
Cheaper still is this Full Fragrance Eau de Toilette Collection from M&S, down to £25 from £50. The collection comprises nine 30ml bottles , each boasting a unique scent, including Warm Neroli, White Jasmine, Pink Pepper and more. With the new discounted price, each bottle works out at £2.78 , compared to their usual individual price of £7. Or shoppers can pick up the under £30 Eau de Parfum set here.
