Police statement after four people die in a head-on crash in Bolton

Three teenagers and a man killed in a horror crash in Bolton have been named locally.

The crash on Wigan Road saw three teenagers in a Seat Leon killed as well as the driver of a Citroen C4 Picasso – a man in his 50s believed to be a taxi driver.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the wreck at 2.44am today. Five more people were injured in the incident and they were taken to hospital for treatment.

Police investigations have continued, with investigators working at the scene and the road closed off throughout the day.

Bolton Council of Mosques (BCoM), which has previously stated publicly that it is supporting the relatives of the deceased, has named the four people, believed to be those killed in the crash, the Bolton News reports.

In separate posts the @BCOMfunerals account on X named those killed in the crash as:

  • Muhammad Danyaal Asghar Ali, of Knutshaw Crescent, Bolton
  • Farhan Patel, of Briercliffe Road, Bolton
  • Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, of Junction Road, Bolton
  • Mosrab Ali, of Ash Street, Blackburn

A previous statement from BCoM released earlier today said: “”BCOM is very sad to announce that there was a tragic accident early hours in the morning and the subsequent loss of four young lives.

“BCOM is closely supporting the families and liaising with the relevant authorities. The authorities are professionally, expediently and empathetically dealing with all the necessary issues.

“It is anticipated that details of the burial will be announced, as soon as possible. Please make dua for the deceased and their families and allow them privacy.”
