All staff at Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa in Mellows Way have reportedly been laid off after it went into administration last month, in what is being called an ‘incredibly difficult situation’
A four-star hotel in Nottinghamshire has entered administration, with all staff reportedly laid off in an “incredibly difficult situation”.
Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa in Mellows Way continued trading after administrators were appointed on January 7, leaving workers uncertain of what was in store for them. But now it is understood that all the staff have been let go as part of a mass redundancy.
The hotel had 121 employees in the year ending 2024, as listed on Companies House, but it is unclear the exact number of employees that were still working and have now been made redundant. The company had faced significant financial pressure in recent months due to wider factors in the hospitality industry.

And people have anonymously told Nottinghamshire Live that all staff have been laid off. While an email has also been sent to customers stating that the company ceased trading with immediate effect today (Tuesday, February 10).
In the statement sent to customers, FRP Administrators said: “It is with sincere regret that I must advise that the Company, trading as Nottingham Belfry & Spa, entered Administration on 7 January 2026 with Ian Corfield and Anthony Simmons appointed as Joint Administrators.
“Subsequently, the Company ceased trading with immediate effect on Tuesday, 10 February 2026. This has been an incredibly difficult situation for everyone involved, and the decision made by the Administrators was not taken lightly.
“We completely understand how disappointing and inconvenient this news is for you. Please accept our heartfelt apologies for the disruption this may cause, especially given the short notice and the challenging circumstances.
“The hotel’s team would also like to express their sincere gratitude to all partners and customers for their support, trust, and kindness over the years. It has meant so much to the team, and they are truly grateful to everyone for their custom.”
The Nottingham Belfry was a well-established hotel offering over 120 guest bedrooms, a restaurant and bar, an event space, and a health spa.
The latest news comes after Anthony Simmons, director at FRP and joint administrator, said last month that they were seeking a buyer. “The Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa is a high-quality venue with an excellent reputation and a strong presence in the local market. We’re actively seeking a buyer and are focused on securing a positive outcome that preserves the business and protects jobs,” he said, reported The Caterer.
