The Tymo Curl Pro Plus is now £9 off in an early Amazon Prime Day deal
I have always struggled to style my own hair – particularly when it comes to curling. I’ve tried everything from heated rollers and curling tongs to the straightener trick – my hair would always end up a tangled mess, falling flat within an hour of styling.
When it came to getting ready for a wedding or an event where I wanted to feel a little more put together, I would always panic and book an appointment with a local hairdresser to curl my hair, to be sure it would look good and stay in place all day.
Lovely as it was to do this, the costs easily mounted up, especially as a wedding guest, where the buyer would need to factor in other expenses like outfits, hotels and gifts.
So when I spotted a viral hair tool promising “effortless curls for beginners”, I was intrigued. After haunting my social feeds for a few weels, I decided to give Tymo’s flagship model – the Curl Pro Plus a go.
According to Tymo, the curler has 600 million negative ions, and a T-GLOSS tourmaline ceramic coating, promising “shiny, beachy waves”. And now, shoppers can save £9 on the gadget ahead of Amazon Prime Day. Usually retailing at £89.99 on Amazon (or £99.99 direct from Tymo), the Curl Pro Plus is currently £80.99, with a voucher valid for Prime members until Sunday, June 21.
Operating the Curl Pro Plus was simple – take a section of hair and load it into a slot at the top of the barrel. Press a button to turn the barrel, which feeds your hair in evenly, and the timer beeps when your curls are ready.
I opted for the Curl Pro Plus model as I have longer hair, but there are also models for short to medium lengths and a compact cordless version available at lower price points.

I did notice that my hair smelled a little singed after the first use – I later discovered that I’d set the curler to full heat – but having experimented since, I’ve found the medium heat setting still achieves long-lasting curls for my hair, without the heat damage.
I loved that the barrel is protected in a 360-degree anti-scaled casing, so there is no way to burn yourself – excellent if you’re as clumsy as I am with hair tools – and the anti-tangle function did a lot of the heavy lifting on my first attempt as I got used to the angle I needed to load the hair in. As soon as the device detects hair tangling, it stops and reverses slightly to release the strand without damage.
The whole process was about 30-40 minutes quicker than it usually is with my BaByliss Thermo-Ceramic Rollers, and the other bonus was that I didn’t have to sit with pins sticking in my head while the curls set. Though I’m not sure it made much difference time-wise compared to curling with my classic GHD straighteners, but I did achieve a fuller, more rounded curl with the Tymo.
The Tymo Curl Pro Plus has more than 2,700 five-star reviews on Amazon. One shopper praised its “perfect curls, every time,” writing: “This hair curler is fantastic. It’s really easy to use and I get perfect curls, every time, that last for days. The machine can detect if your hair is going to get tangled and it stops curling, then you can easily pull your hair out of the barrel. I love that you don’t have to worry about burning your hands or ears, the barrel does get warm but you can’t burn yourself on it. An all-around great product that’s worth the money.”
Another customer dubbed it an ‘absolute staple’ in her haircare routine. She wrote: “It is so easy, so smooth, so fast to do your entire head – like 10-15 minutes. No tugging, no burning.” Though, she did flag a couple of reservations, adding: “My hair doesn’t stay curly for days, but I love the waves look on day two and three. For the result, I would say not as good as a thin curling wand but much better than straighteners.”
And another buyer praised the curler for being “foolproof,” writing: “Best hair curling tool ever, and I have all the other usual suspects. This is sheer magic. Easy to do. Foolproof with safety untangle. I have very long hair and can complete a pro look in 10 minutes. This tool gives me the confidence to do a do, and finally gives me that ease without agonising for 45 mins or an hour before events.”
The Tymo Curl Pro Plus is currently £80.99 on Amazon or £99.99 direct from Tymo.
