BBC’s The Traitors presenter Claudia Winkleman’s wardrobe is always a talking point – and now fans can copy her chic style with high street alternatives

BBC’s The Traitors is set to return for its fourth season this New Year’s Day, and for many viewers, Claudia Winkleman’s wardrobe is as delightful as the deception and roundtable discussions. The presenter, who has carefully honed her personal style over the years, often channels heritage chic items for the show, which is filmed in Scotland.

While it may be worlds apart from her Strictly Come Dancing uniforms, one thing often links Claudia’s on-screen picks, and that is their high-end price tags. Many of the eyeliner-loving star’s outfits carry designer labels, and the cost to match.

But, viewers need not break the bank to copy her style, with the high street positively brimming with countryside-inspired attire this season. As a huge The Traitors fan, and avid admirer of Claudia’s ensembles, I’ve trawled the high street for the ultimate alternatives to get her look for less.

Think chunky knitwear, heritage prints, layering and leather boots, perfect for capturing Claudia’s signature aesthetic. Here are my top picks from M&S, Nobody’s Child, New Look and more.

M&S Cloud-Yarn Textured Funnel Neck Relaxed Jumper – £46

For the celebrity version of The Traitors back in October, Claudia wore a £1,290 Isabel Marant Moka Sweater, but Marks and Spencer shoppers have spotted an under £50 alternative in this Cloud-Yarn Textured Funnel Neck Relaxed Jumper.

Costing £46, it’s crafted from cloud yarn and has a cosy, playful texture akin to Claudia’s designer knit. It’s designed in a relaxed fit with a warm funnel neck and slightly dropped shoulders for a laid-back look, and shoppers can’t believe how strikingly similar it is.

One said: “Terrific jumper, bang on trend especially with The Traitors fashion, well pleased with finding this item and even better bought when an offer was on.”

Another added: “I saw Claudia wearing a jumper very similar to this on Traitors, that one cost over £1k! This is just as stylish and great quality. I love it.”

One suggested it ‘fits a bit on the big side’ suggesting shoppers size down for a neater look rather than oversized, while a fourth wrote: “So here I am channelling a homage to Claudia’s Isabel Marant style jumper (on The celeb traitors) at a much more accessible price. Loving it.”

Alternatively, this Ecru Tassle Knit Poncho at Next is now on sale for £22. Originally £52, the poncho has a diamond knit base with a baggy fit, thick tassels and a high neck with a ribbed collar.

Nobody’s Child Brown Funnel Neck Cape Jacket – £44, was £110

Nobody’s Child is a favourite among celebrities, and this soft to touch and timeless in shape funnel neck cape nods to heritage styling while feeling modern and fresh. Its neutral tone makes it a brilliant layering piece for winter weekends.

It comes in four sizes ranging from XS to L , with shoppers hailing it as ‘very soft and trendy.’ What’s more is that its also featured in the retailer’s end of year sale, down to £44 instead of £110, while the code EXTRA15 currently knocks it down to £37.40. That makes it even cheaper than this Brown Scarf Cape coat at River Island, which is £56.

On the website, Nobody’s Child style it with a tartan mini skirt and black knee-high boots – a very Traitors-esque look, if we do say so ourselves.

Black Faux Leather Riding Knee High Boots – £41.99, was £55.99

Every wardrobe, Traitors inspired or not, should feature a classic pair of knee boots. For a timeless pair you’ll turn to time and time again, these Black Faux Leather Riding Knee High Boots at New Look are a great pick.

The knee-high design has a low block heel for comfortable wear, with an elastic section which shoppers have praised ‘fit perfectly around the leg area’ while being ‘very comfy to wear’.

Another shopper said: “Very quick delivery. Very comfortable. Had so many compliments about them. Will deffo order another pair when I need to.” Though another commented they were ‘a bit tight on the foot for me’, adding: “wide fit too big, standard too small”.

For those looking for a way to bring their old skinny jeans back up to date, tuck them into these boots for an equestrian aesthetic. Alternatively, team with dresses and skirts to channel Claudia’s style.

Some, however, may prefer to opt for real leather, and in which case, I’ve been swooning over these Dune Leather Block Heel Knee High Boots for £189 . They’re crafted from smooth leather, with a stretchy fabric panel on one side for a flexible, pull-on fit.

Brora Plaid Pleated Kilt – £249

While not strictly high street, Brora’s styles have long been loved by celebrities and royals, with Kate Middleton famously wearing one of their fairisle knits. Many of the pleated tartan kilt-like skirts released on the high street this season have sold out, including picks from Boden and Next, but this one is a stunning investment piece that can be worn for years to come.

Blending British heritage style with a modern flair, the skirt features knife pleats and a timeless silhouette with a chic front split, decorative leather buckles and a showstopping plaid pattern.

Speaking on the skirt, one shopper commented: “I love plaid anyway – but this is a great fabric. Again really good details like the leather straps at the waist to buckle up. Though they are fixed you cannot vary them – they look great. I shall wear this a great deal.”

What I love so much about a tartan is that you can pull different colours from the pattern for the rest of the outfit, with this one ideal for pairing with a navy, cream or burgundy knit.

Runway 1.8.1.8 Traitor Slogan High Neck Jumper – £25, was £45

For those who like to be a little more ‘on the nose’ with their nods to the show, this Traitors slogan jumper at Debenhams is the ideal piece to wear for your season finale watch party. Coming in at £25, down from £45, it’s in an on-trend burgundy hue with white lettering.

According to the brand, the cropped length works brilliantly with higher waistlines, while the wide sleeves add a touch of drama to your everyday look. And as we all know, both The Traitors and Claudia’s wardrobe is all about the drama.

Style with a patterned midi skirt like the one above, or pair with high-waisted jeans, a trench and trainers for weekend coffee dates.
