Five new designs for 2025 have been unveiled by the Royal Mint
The Royal Mint has confirmed five new money pieces will enter circulation in the UK, including a £5 coin and other new denominations. The lineup features five new designs, including the late Queen Mother, and the Red Arrows.
A first look at the coins has been given today, Friday, ahead of the launch next week. The new £5 coin pays tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, marking 125 years since her birth.
It features a portrait from her 80th birthday celebrations in 1980. Two 50p coins will also be released, one honouring the 60th anniversary of the inaugural Red Arrows display, and another saluting the heroes of the Second World War.
Additionally, two new £2 coin designs will commemorate the bicentenary of modern railways and the establishment of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London.
Rebecca Morgan, director of commemorative coin at the Royal Mint, said: “Highly anticipated by collectors, the 2025 annual set brings together a special selection of commemorative coins.
“From celebrating the world-renowned Red Arrows for their precision flying and intricate formations to commemorating the life and legacy of the Queen Mother, each coin has been meticulously designed and crafted to serve as a permanent reminder of these moments in British history and can be treasured for generations.”
