David Rogers, 58, known as ‘Disco Dave’, was taken to hospital following an incident in Pencoed, Bridgend before he sadly passed away. Family paid tribute to the devoted father.

Heartfelt tributes have poured in for a “proud father” and beloved family man who tragically lost his life following an incident over the weekend.

David Rogers, 58, was rushed to hospital after the incident on Felindre Road, Pencoed, near Bridgend during the early hours of Saturday, February 28. Despite remaining in a critical condition, he sadly passed away on Monday, March 2. Fondly known to countless friends as “Disco Dave”, his family remembered him as a dedicated father, brother and son whose world revolved around his loved ones and creating cherished moments with them.

In a heartfelt statement, they shared: “David was a proud father of four sons, Aaron, Cory, Kane, and Saul. He was a devoted brother to his sister, Bethan, an uncle to his nieces and nephews, Lewis and Leah, and cherished son to his mother, Judy. He was a loving former partner to the mother of his children, Michelle. Family meant everything to him. He loved going on overseas adventures, playing golf at the Vale Resort, and being known as ‘Disco Dave’.”

His partner, Abbie, expressed: “He was loved by all that knew him. My person, my forever, my best friend. We as a family don’t even know how to begin to move on without him. The children could never have asked for a better stepdad that always went above and beyond. We, as a family, are now left with a hole in our lives that will never be filled. We now need time to grieve. We found our forever when we found each other. Love you always, my David.”

Officers confirmed that David’s family are receiving support during this difficult period, reports Wales Online.

On Tuesday (March 3), police announced that Liam Walters, 26, from Pencoed, had been charged with David’s murder. He was brought before Cardiff Magistrates Court on Wednesday, March 4, where he was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday, March 5.

Detectives leading the murder investigation are continuing to appeal for witnesses. Anyone who was in the area around Felindre Road, Pencoed, between 12:30am and 4:30am on Saturday, February 28, is asked to come forward if they haven’t already spoken to police.
