A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said, “At around 7:30pm this evening (Wednesday, 7th January), firefighters were called to reports of a fire at Lancashire Hill in Stockport.

“Four fire engines from Offerton, Whitehill, Stockport and Wythenshawe fire stations quickly arrived at the scene, where a bin chute within the building had become blocked and caught fire.

“Firefighters applied water to the bin chute across several levels of the building to extinguish the fire and remove the blockages.

“Crews were at the scene for around 90 minutes.”
