Fans of all things savoury have taken another blow recently, as Walkers confirmed it has quietly discontinued an iconic flavour without giving ‘notice’ – and fans are understandably devastated
It’s another sad day for Walkers fans as yet another popular crisp flavour has been axed – with no notice.
It’s been a tough time for consumers lately, with a lot of changes happening. Recently, the crisp giant admitted to changing the taste of one of its fan favourites to give it ‘more punch’. Fans of the Thai Sweet Chilli Sensations weren’t happy that their beloved crisp flavour had been altered.
The news came after the company recently revealed it was dropping another favourite flavour entirely from shelves. Worcester sauce crisps will be joining their meaty cousins Beef and Onion and BBQ Rib in the graveyard of taste sensations at Walkers.
Now the company has revealed it is removing yet another product from the shelves – salt and vinegar flavour Quavers will no longer be available – and shoppers are understandably devastated.
Staunch Quavers fan Linda took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to let the company ask: “Have you stopped making salt and vinegar Quavers? I can’t find them anywhere.” Then Walkers gave some devastating news: “We’re sorry to break it to you Linda, but we’re not making this flavour anymore.” Linda replied, saying: “And with no notice. This is a sad day.”
The iconic flavour joined the Walkers’ lineup in 1993, and was eventually pulled from shelves. However, fans were elated when it returned along with the prawn cocktail-flavoured Quavers.
Linda wasn’t alone in feeling let down by not getting any notice of the removal of the delicious crisps. Social media user Steven wrote: “We need to talk!! I have spent all summer trying to find the ranges that mixes flavours from other crisps – Monster Munch Pickled Onion on Walkers Crisps? Any of them – NEVER FOUND ANY!! And what’s happed to Quavers Salt and Vinegar – not a good summer,” Birmingham Live reports.
Another person called Susan added: “Why can we no longer buy Salt and Vinegar Quavers, my husband absolutely loves them and being type one diabetic and and he likes them because the calories will you be bringing them back, none of the supermarkets in our area sell them.”
Meanwhile, Anna wrote: “Have you discontinued Salt and Vinegar Quavers again? I can’t find them anywhere!,” to which Walkers replied: “We’re sorry, but this flavour is no longer part of our range. Sadly they weren’t as popular as we hoped.”
Fans of sweeter treats were also left devastated recently when Nestle revealed it would be axing its the iconic beige-coloured Caramac bars. And chocolate fans have been threatening to ‘run riot’ after Mars Wrigley UK decided to discontinue the iconic Milkyway Crispyrolls.
