Fashion editor Lauren Goodwin-Grafton has been searching for the perfect pair of knee-high boots- they need to be versatile and comfortable enough to wear all-day. This pair ticks the boxes…

As a busy fashion editor, my day usually involves a lot of running around town, meeting with fashion agencies, booking in-store appointments and attending press events so when it comes to my footwear comfort is key. However, would I really be a fashion editor if I didn’t care about the style factor too? Of course, I want to look good too, which is why finding the perfect pair of autumn boots can be a difficult task.

Knee-high boots are a go-to for me and I already own a few pairs that I wear on repeat as soon as autumn arrives- although I call these my ‘cab collection’ as they are really only suitable when not walking far, or quite literally going from desk dinner. This autumn I’ve been determined to find a pair of knee-high boots, in black, that will pair with tons in my existing wardrobe, have a decent heel height and provide all-day comfort. Is it too much to ask?

I spotted the Black Leather Look Kitten Heel Knee High Boots, £57.99 here on New Look and thought “These are just what I’ve been looking for”. I was slightly sceptical about the ‘leather look’ aspect as I’ve experienced chaffing on my calves from similar styles, however, I thought they were worth a shot. Plus, I was curious to try out the brand’s ‘Comfort Technology.’

Cons

  • Only available in one colour
  • ‘Leather-look’ may not be as long-lasting as real leather (only time will tell)

After wearing the boots for 7 hours running around town I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. I expected my soles to be in crippling pain and a blister here and there but these boots were definitely made for walking. With a padded lining around the calf and on the soles of my feet the comfort technology certainly does what it says on the tin.

In the past I have also struggled with calf widths on knee-high boots but this pair has been designed with an elasticated panel on the inside to give a little stretch if like me you aren’t blessed with supermodel pins. My only ask is for New Look to make them in more shades for autumn…burgundy and brown, pretty please.

Want to carry on your search? Those looking for a higher heel, I’ve found a style perfect for the evening at M&S. The Stiletto Pointed Knee High Boots, £65 here might look uncomfortable but the Insolia® technology redistributes your weight away from the balls of your feet for longer-lasting comfort. Alternatively, shoppers with a bigger budget might prefer to invest in a real leather pair this autumn, I also adore Dune London’s Knee High Kitten Heel Boots, £200.00 here.
