The family want someone to care, walk and feed their dog, as well as being a companion

A professional couple is on the hunt for someone to be a companion for their dog. The unique job role will require walking, feeding and caring for their nine-year-old Labrador.

The housekeeper with a dog-care role will help the couple support the “smooth running” of their home in Bracknell, as well as provide “exceptional care” for their beloved dog. The successful candidate will work for the couple for three days a week and will be paid £25 an hour.

You would work on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, totalling around 25 hours per week. The description added: “The family are flexible regarding the daily working hours and is happy to agree a schedule that works well for the right candidate.

“They would also appreciate someone who can occasionally offer flexibility with working hours or provide pet sitting, including overnight care or some weekend cover, by prior agreement when they are away (to be negotiated separately).”

A car will be provided when on duty, and the start date will be mid-September. The job description, which is advertised on Home Organisers, reads: “A professional couple based in Bracknell are looking to appoint an experienced Housekeeper with Dog Care to support the smooth running of their home.

“This is a varied role combining housekeeping, dog care and household administration. Providing exceptional care for the family’s Labrador is the highest priority within the role, so they are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys dogs and understands the importance of attentive, reliable pet care.

“Alongside caring for the dog, you will take responsibility for maintaining the home to a high standard and assisting with a range of household administrative tasks.

“The family are looking for someone they can trust completely, who is proactive, organised and enjoys taking ownership of their work. They hope to find someone looking for a long-term position who will become a valued part of their household.”

Dog care duties include providing attentive daily care and companionship for the dog. This will include walking, feeding and caring throughout the working day.

The successful candidate would attend veterinary appointments as needed and provide occasional pet-sitting when the family are away.

Housekeeping tasks include thorough cleaning and care of the home to a high standard, doing laundry, changing beds, food shopping, and general organisation.

There would be some household administration tasks, including assisting with household bills, arranging maintenance, organising birthday gifts and occasional travel planning.

To apply for the role, you should have previous experience in a similar private household role and a genuine love of dogs, with experience caring for them.

You should also have “excellent” housekeeping skills and organisation, as well as being proactive, trustworthy, honest and discreet. The family want someone who uses initiative and can work independently.

Candidates should have a full driving license and be flexible. Home Organisers added: “If you have previous experience working within a private household, enjoy caring for dogs and are looking for a varied long-term position, we would be delighted to hear from you.

“Please apply with your up-to-date CV. Suitable applicants will be contacted to discuss the position in more detail before being introduced to the family.”
