It is set to happen earlier this year, and we don’t have all that long to wait
We are all getting ready for the clocks to spring forward, signalling the start of British Summer Time (BST). And yes, that means brighter nights and a greater chance of us not being forced to stay inside in the evening.
BST is only observed for part of the year. When the clocks go back in autumn, the UK returns to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which many people will be more familiar with.
According to Royal Museums Greenwich, BST begins when the clocks move forward by one hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March. This year, that change will take place at 1am on March 29.
By comparison, last year the clocks changed a day later on March 30. Looking ahead, BST is expected to begin on March 28 in 2027, while in 2028 the clocks will go forward on March 26.
When do the clocks go back in 2026?
For those also keen to know when BST ends, it happens when the clocks go back in autumn. This year it’s set to occur on October 25 at 2am – the last Sunday of the 10th month.
When will the sun set in London after 8pm?
