A picture of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor appears smiling and lying down near jailed socialite Ghislaine Maxwell in one of 300,000 new Epstein files released by the US Department of Justice
The former Prince Andrew is seen smiling and lying down on a bench as jailed socialite Ghislaine Maxwell looks on in a new photograph from the Epstein files.
Andrew has for many years faced allegations that he sexually assaulted a teenage Virginia Giuffre after she was trafficked by Epstein. He strenuously denies the accusations. He paid millions to Ms Giuffe to settle a civil sexual assault claim in 2022.
Andrew stepped down from royal duties in 2019 after his disastrous Newsnight interview, but the publication of Ms Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, and the US government’s release of documents from Epstein’s estate, brought more scrutiny over his relationship with the financier.
Last month, King Charles officially stripped Andrew of his HRH style and his prince title, and removed his dukedom from the Roll of the Peerage over Andrew’s “serious lapses” of judgment.
Andrew has also been forced to give up his Windsor home, Royal Lodge, and will move to a house on the King’s private Sandringham estate next year.
