Pamela Munro, 45, was found in Ayley Croft, Enfield, by emergency services on Sunday, and died at the scene from a stab wound after paramedics were unable to save her life

Police have named a woman who was stabbed to death in a shocking weekend attack after arresting a man on suspicion of murder. Pamela Munro was found with a single stab wound in Ayley Croft, Enfield, at around 7pm on April 19, the London Metropolitan Police said on Monday.

Police and paramedics with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance had rushed to the scene of the attack, and, despite their best efforts, were unable to save the 45-year-old’s life. Met Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, from the service’s Specialist Crime Command, said her family has been left “devastated” as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

The Met confirmed on Monday that the service had taken a 29-year-old man into custody on Monday morning, where he remains pending ongoing enquiries.

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, who oversees policing for Enfield, said police have worked “tirelessly” on the following investigation.

She said: “Our thoughts are with Pamela’s family and local residents who will have been significantly impacted following the news of her death. I am grateful to local officers and officers from the Specialist Crime Command who have worked tirelessly since Saturday to investigate the circumstances surrounding Pamela’s death as well as support the local community.

“Neighbourhood officers will remain at Ayley Croft throughout the coming days to support the community and help investigators continue enquiries.”

Speaking after the arrest on Monday, DCI John added the service is continuing to support Pamela’s family following her death, while confirming the arrest of the 29-year-old man.

He said: “Investigating officers have worked relentlessly across the weekend to investigate the circumstances around Pamela’s death. We continue to support her family who are understandably devastated.

“This morning, we arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with Pamela’s death and he remains in custody.”

Police have also issued an appeal for more information following the arrest, specifically for dashcam footage from cars driving through Ayley Cross between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on April 19.

People who believe they have information that could assist Met investigators in their inquiries have been asked to submit reports to the police non-emergency number 101, quoting the reference 5741/19APRIL.
