Emma Louise Connolly has already been nailing plenty of autumn outfits, and her latest look included a pair of tartan ballet pumps with rhinestone details that fans called ‘perfection’

Autumn is the perfect time to make the most of wearing your favourite ballet flats before the rainy winter weather sets in, and with the trend going nowhere any time soon, there are still plenty of styles we’ve been coveting. One of the most recent pairs that caught our eye were on the feet of Emma Louise Connolly, who sported a pair of Boden’s Vic Chisel Toe Mary Janes in one of her latest outfit posts on Instagram.

Emma’s tartan-print flats were the perfect way of adding a pop of colour and print to her autumnal looks, with her pairing them with both matching navy and red tones, as well as print-clashing them with a pair of leopard print jeans. Fans were quick to praise the Mary Janes, with one writing: “Those tartan shoes” with a heart-eyed emoji, whilst another added: “Shoes and jeans nothing short of perfection.”

Good news for those of you hoping to snap up Emma’s tartan Mary Janes for yourself, as they’re currently still available in all sizes from a UK3 to a UK9 on the Boden website. They’ll set you back £130, however you can currently snag 15% off Boden’s new-in styles – which includes the flats – by using the code B2G5, which takes them down to £110.50.

The Vic Mary Janes are made with a responsibly-sourced leather insock and lining, whilst the tartan outer is covered in a textured material. Apart from the statement-making print, one of the most eye-catching features is the rhinestone-covered square buckles which gives them a luxe-looking finish.

As well as the elasticated buckle-fastened strap over the arches, the tartan shoes have a chisel-shaped toe which finishes in a squared off point for a chic silhouette. They’re also flat with the slightest hint of a heel, which makes them comfy enough to wear all day and night.

If tartan isn’t your thing, they also come in a classic black patent finish, as well as two different leopard prints so you can choose which ones will suit your wardrobe the best. Shoppers have also been a big fan of them, with one person writing: “I have had so many compliments from strangers and family alike.”

Another said: “Beautiful shoes, very comfortable and super stylish- a bonus is the matching bag and earrings… can’t wait to wear them.”

However some found them a little long thanks to the elongated chisel-toed shape, writing: “Red tartan, gorgeous, perfect pattern match, but about at least an extra cm in the toe that isn’t needed, they’re actually quite narrow in the toe but the length isn’t helping, makes them look too big and too long. Disappointed as they’re gorgeous.”

If you prefer a slightly more squared off toes, Urban Outfitters’ Luxe Mary Jane Ballet Pumps , £50, make a great alternative. They come in an on-trend leopard print design, with squared toes and an adjustable buckle strap across the arches.

Otherwise, the XY London Rhyse Mary Jane Diamante Buckle Square Toe Pumps are perfect for a slightly understated look, with a matte black finish and slightly squared pointed toe. They also have a diamante buckle, to stop them being too plain, and they’re currently on sale for £24.99, down from £32.99, at Debenhams.
