Three cars were damaged after a fire broke out in the Trafford Centre car park in Manchester
Firefighters rushed to the Trafford Centre in Manchester after a blaze engulfed a car and spread to two others in a busy car park.
The incident occurred at around 6.45pm on Saturday near John Lewis. Pictures from the scene showed flames rising above the vehicles, close to a Christmas tree illumination, and smoke billowing across the area.
Two fire engines attended and quickly extinguished the flames, the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said. All three vehicles involved were petrol-powered, a GMFRS spokesperson confirmed.
An eyewitness said the car park had been “locked off” as fire crews and paramedics responded, Manchester Evening News reports.
Luckily, no one was injured. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but it is not being treated as suspicious or deliberate.
The GMFRS spokesperson said: “Shortly after 6.45pm this evening (Saturday 8 November), two fire engines from Sale and Salford fire stations were called to attend a fire involving three vehicles in a car park at the Trafford Centre. Crews arrived quickly and used breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Firefighters remain in attendance.”
