Shoppers could save themselves over £60 for something that looks nearly identical

One of B&M’s pieces of “chic” homeware could pass for something that looks like a more expensive Zara item – at a fraction of the cost. The Amara Textured Table Lamp is available in stores across the UK to buy for £20.

The discount chain store said: “Bring modern style to your home with the Amara Textured Table Lamp.” Bosses from B&M describe it as being “perfect for living rooms, bedrooms and hallway spaces”, adding an “elevated and chic look” to homes.

The textured base and neutral fabric lampshade could pass for something much more expensive at a glance. Shoppers may find that the B&M version looks almost identical to an £85 Zara homeware item.

Zara’s Aged Ceramic Table Lamp, worth £85.99, is available online and shares many similar-looking features. The aged ceramic base, made of earthenware, adds a textured effect reminiscent of B&M’s version.

The Zara version also includes a linen fabric lampshade. It is not confirmed what B&M’s version is made of online, as the store does not always list materials on website descriptions.

Unlike Zara’s lamp, B&M’s version is not available to buy online. Shoppers will have to visit their nearest B&M outlet to check whether the lamp is available in person.

In other B&M news, shoppers can “add style to any space” with a mirror which ‘looks like’ a £135 Dusk option. In reality, shoppers may pay just £40 for the “traditional” piece of decor that could pass for something much more expensive.

The Wooden Multistep Mirror is new to the B&M website, and could be a more affordable option for anyone who likes the look of a pricier Dusk piece of homeware. B&M said: “A traditional wooden frame mirror, with stepped finish, adding style to any space in your home.”

The discount chain claims that the freestanding mirror would look “ideal [in] hallways and living rooms”. But shoppers could also add this piece to other parts of the home, including dining rooms and bedrooms.

The Dusk version, sold exclusively online, is on sale for £115, down from £135. Compared to the £40 B&M option, shoppers who chose the high street version could save close to £100 for something that is virtually identical.
