This year, Good Friday falls on April 3, Easter Sunday is on April 5 and Easter Monday is on April 6
Tesco shoppers will want to check the opening times of their local store this weekend as the long Easter break means timings may be a little different.
This year, Good Friday falls on April 3, Easter Sunday is on April 5 and Easter Monday is on April 6.
On Good Friday, the majority of larger Tesco stores across England and Wales will be open from 6am to 10pm. All large stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland will trade their normal hours.
The majority of large Tesco Express stores will be open from 6am to 10pm. There are no changes to opening hours for standard Express stores.
Then on Easter Sunday, all large Tesco stores across England and Wales will be closed, in line with trading laws. In Scotland, stores will trade from 8am to 10pm.
The majority of large Tesco Express stores will also be closed on Easter Sunday, but there are no changes for standard Express stores.
On Easter Monday, the majority of large Tesco stores across England and Wales will be open from 8am to 6pm. The majority of our large Northern Ireland stores will open from 8am to 8pm.
All large stores in Scotland will be trading their usual hours. The majority of our large Express stores will be open from 8am to 6pm and there are no changes for standard Express stores.
As opening hours over the Easter period will vary by location, it is advised you check your local store opening times using the Tesco store locator tool. Petrol filling station opening times also vary.
It comes as hundreds of thousands of Tesco workers received a pay rise last month as part of a new £200million investment.
Pay for shop workers and staff at online fulfilment centres increased by 5.1% to £13.28 an hour from March 29.
Employees working in London saw their hourly allowance increase to £1.27, taking the hourly rate to £14.55 for those within the M25.
The changes coincide with the new national minimum wage and living wage rates which came into effect from April. Tesco’s pay rise means its rates sit above the £12.71 minimum wage for earners over 21 years old.
Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK’s chief executive, said: “Our colleagues play a vital role in delivering for our customers every single day.
“I’m pleased we’re able to announce this pay deal which reflects our deep appreciation for everything they do and represents another meaningful investment in colleague pay.”
Daniel Adams, national officer for trade union Usdaw, said the pay increase “extends the gap between the Tesco rates of pay and the national living wage”.
He added: “The union is also particularly pleased that the business has agreed to be the first retailer to commit to providing paid leave to help support staff who experience domestic abuse – something that could make a huge difference for those affected.”
