Aldi has updated its opening times for Easter weekend 2026 – and has revealed the quietest times for shoppers.
The dates for Easter change every year – and this year, Good Friday falls on April 3, Easter Sunday is on April 5 and Easter Monday is on April 6.
If you are planning an Aldi trip this weekend, be aware that its stores will open between 8am and 9pm on Good Friday and Easter Saturday before closing on Easter Sunday to give staff the day off with their loved ones.
Large shops have to close on Easter Sunday by law, except in Scotland, but small shops can open. Aldi stores will reopen on Easter Monday between 8am and 8pm, though customers are advised to check local store hours online.
For the quietest hours, shoppers are advised that between 8am and 9am, or later in the evening between 7pm and 10pm, will be the best times to pick up their Easter shopping.
Rachel Geary, Communications Director at Aldi UK, said: “Easter is a time for celebration and coming together with family and friends to enjoy great food – whether that’s a traditional British roast with all the trimmings or firing up the BBQ, if the spring weather allows!”
“At Aldi, we’ve made it easy for shoppers to pick up everything they need for the occasion at unbeatable value, so they can focus on what really matters – spending quality time with loved ones.”
It comes as Aldi is set to take the crown for best-paying UK supermarket after announcing another pay rise for thousands of its staff.
The rate of pay for its store assistants will rise to £13.50 an hour nationally and £14.88 inside the M25 from April 1. These rise to £14.47 and £15.20 respectively based on length of service.
The increase will benefit over 28,000 hourly-paid store workers and represents the second pay rise for Aldi teams this year.
The supermarket announced at the start of this year that it would increase pay for its employees in March 2026. Aldi employs more than 45,000 people across the UK.
Aldi has plans to open 40 new stores in 2026 as part of a £370million investment programme. The supermarket is investing an additional £300million in upgrading and extending existing stores.
Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “Our colleagues work incredibly hard to deliver exceptional value for our customers, and we’re rewarding that dedication with the highest pay in the sector.
“We’ve invested over £42 million in colleague pay this year because we know that every single member of Team Aldi is fundamental to our success and deserve nothing less.”
