Stay safe with this little button that could end up saving your life.

There are certain situations we hope to never be in, ones that can put us and our little ones in grave danger. It’s always worth knowing how to get yourself out of a potentially fatal set of circumstances, especially when it comes to driving. If you’re ever in the position where you need to get out of the car but the doors are locked and you don’t have a key – do not panic. There is an easy hack which can get you out and safe in no time. Hopefully, you’ll never need to use this advice but it’s good knowledge to store and pass on to your friends and family.

Taking to TikTok, user Master Driver revealed some of your car’s ‘hidden emergency features’ that ’99 per cent of people don’t know’. The driving pro urged Brits to ‘not worry’ if they ever find themselves stuck in their car unable to get out. “Getting out the car is very simple,” she said. “Put down the rear seats first and climb into the trunk. There is a small black mechanism on the trunk door panel. This is your life-saving switch. You can open the trunk with just one click.”

Master Driver, who has amassed a whopping 1.1 million followers on TikTok alone thanks to her handy vehicle tips, also showed drivers how to use the little button below your rear view mirror. “Press it down,” she said. “This was the lights from behind won’t be dazzling when driving at night.”

The expert then showed off a common feature on the driver’s seatbelt, allowing it to be adjusted depending on your height. According to the Sun, holding down on the Start Engine button in your car after turning on the power will automatically lock the car in just ten seconds – which is also worth knowing. If you use the function after getting out of your car, all of the windows will reportedly close within three seconds, helping you stay safe and protect your valuables.

With all of these hacks, features will vary depending on the make and model of your car. It is always worth familiarising yourself with what functions are available to you and how to use them safely before setting off on your journey.
