  • Comb your hair before washing. She notes that this helps to detangle any knots. If you don’t brush before washing, knots tighten when hair is wet, which guarantees breakage.
  • Make sure to use only lukewarm water. This helps your shampoo work its magic.
  • Double shampoo is great for thicker hair and a healthy scalp. The first wash removes oil and product buildup while the 2nd wash provides a “deeper clean”.
  • She says that bond repair products are a “must” for anyone with “damaged or dry hair”. You should apply this after your shampoo and wait 5-10 minutes, then use conditioner.
  • Hailing one product as a “cheat code”, she says that you should squeeze out excess water from your hair before applying conditioner. For maximum results, split your hair into four sections and apply from mid-lengths to ends.
  • She notes that a metal detox mask is a “non-negotiable”. She suggests using it once a week for smooth and shiny hair.

Showing a range of products, she notes how important it is to remove knots from your hair. You can pick up a Detangle Hairbrush for £2.49 from B&M or a Boots Shower Detangling Comb for £1.99.

The brush is gentle on wet hair to reduce damage and has a convenient shower hook for easy storage. There are more expensive brushes out there upwards of £15, but if you don’t want to spend too much on it, these are great choices.

The doctor uses Pantene’s Repair & Protect Conditioner, which is priced at £2.60 or £3.25 at Boots. Find a shampoo and conditioner that works for you, as every hair is different, and follow her steps.

In her comment section, she notes that one of her recommended items can be pricey. So skip this step if you want to stick to a budget.

She wrote: “With bond repair treatments – they are hella spenny so you want to make sure you’re using them correctly. Always apply them BEFORE your conditioner, wait 5-10 mins first and don’t wash it out!”

If you wash your hair every other day, she explained to one commenter: “Technically if you wash your hair every day – then you wouldn’t have to double shampoo, but if it’s every other day, every 3 days, then you should.”
