When you think of luxury watches, rubbish might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but Detrash is no ordinary jewellery brand. This innovative firm crafts watches from ocean plastic, and their new £375 Au.M.G dive watch is a prime example.

Those fed up with the usual shopping choices will undoubtedly be intrigued by how Detrash is revolutionising sustainable timepieces, and the results may just astonish both fashion enthusiasts and watch collectors.

For those who enjoy making a statement, Detrash’s new Au.M.G watch is a limited edition, with only 100 made and a mere 52 still available for purchase on the retailer’s website.

The standout timepiece has already won over eco-conscious consumers with its design, which incorporates 80% recycled surgical-grade steel and a strap made from tide ocean plastic, reports the Express. No detail has been overlooked; the luxurious watch features a stylish scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal with an anti-reflective coating.

The watch also marks Detrash’s initial venture into PVD gold coating, lending the timepiece a chic, timeless appearance. Constructed from 80% recycled surgical-grade steel, the Au.M.G model also boasts a dial inspired by one of the brand’s popular but permanently sold out designs, the Gotham’s Vigilante model.

This classic and elegant timepiece isn’t just about looks, as it’s water resistant up to 200 metres and has a robust design intended to withstand wear and tear and be passed down to future generations.

For anyone curious why the watch has been dubbed Au.M.G, the letters represent gold, marine, and grit, mirroring its construction materials. The brand doesn’t solely focus on its materials though, as it has pledged 1% of every purchase towards supporting Surfers Against Sewage.

Excellent workmanship apart, Detrash’s dedication to a more eco-friendly yet premium customer journey is evident throughout the unpacking experience as well, with the timepiece arriving in a carrying pouch crafted from surplus fabric.

Other timepieces currently on offer include Tissot’s PR 100 Blue 40mm design, which can be purchased through Goldsmiths for £285. It’s waterproof to a depth of 10 bar and is constructed from premium 316L stainless steel.

Customers can also purchase the Citizen Men’s Blue Chronograph Dial Stainless Steel Bracelet watch for half price at H.Samuel. Presently reduced from £250 to £125, it features a striking blue face and a handy date function.

Returning to Detrash, the company’s website features numerous positive testimonials, with one buyer commenting: “Absolutely love my Detrash watch. I have a collection of Tissot watches, and this watch stands up to those in quality and looks. It has an expensive feel about it. Very fast delivery too. Hoping to add another Detrash very soon.”

However, it’s worth noting that one shopper mentioned as part of their review that they felt the watch may be a little weighty for everyday use, writing: “It’s chunky and maybe too heavy as a go to every day watch. That said, for wearing for an occasion, it’s pucker – looks fantastic.”

Despite this, another satisfied customer wrote: “Awesome product, looks amazing and super fast delivery.”
