The HumiZap dehumidifier is on sale at Amazon with 50% off, and one user says they ‘wouldn’t survive winter without it’
Drying our clothes in winter is often a trivial yet unnecessarily long-winded task. Lack of sunshine means we need to get out our trusty clothes horses to dry wet garments over using the energy sapping tumble dryer. And with the chill in the air, this takes way longer than is necessary.
To combat this, many people seek the help of a dehumidifier, which essentially sucks excess moisture out of the air, and in turn helps ‘dry clothes in a few hours’. While these handy home gadgets can cost a pretty penny, we’ve found a deal on one which sees 50% knocked off.
The HumiZap dehumidifier usually retails at £139.99 on Amazon, but it’s currently reduced to £69.99, knocking £70 off – for a limited time only.
Hailed by shoppers as being one of the ‘quieter’ models, with ‘sound levels of less than 38dB’, this dehumidifier has been crafted with drying clothes in mind and has a specific ‘laundry mode’. Amazon claims that this HumiZap dehumidifier can clear a ‘remarkable 6L of humidity daily and covering areas of up to 1500 Sq.Ft’, despite its relatively compact size – making it great for bedrooms, kitchens and more.
Using a dehumidifier when drying clothes doesn’t just affect the duration of the task, but also helps reduce the damp smell that often accompanies it (always a bonus).

The HumiZap dehumidifier has a range of modes, including ‘laundry’ mode to assist in drying clothes.
Shopping Editor Tom Capon was left impressed by this HumiZap dehumidifier’s ability to dry clothes and shared a rave review which read: “I live in a flat so I needed two things out of a dehumidifier: to dry my clothes, especially in the never-ending winter that leaves my balcony a no-go-zone; to not be the biggest thing in the world.
“After some research, I came across this dehumidifier that seemed to tick all the boxes. Not only is it compact enough to sit neatly underneath my clothes horse, it also does the job of drying my clothes. In fact, they are rarely on the horse for more than a day now, having mostly dried in a few hours.
“At just 120 watts, it only costs 3p-an-hour to run.” His only qualm? “The only issue with having a compact one is I do end up having to empty it every time I use. Otherwise, I genuinely wouldn’t survive winter without it.”
One feature this dehumidifier doesn’t seem to have is an air purifying system. If this is a dealbreaker, the MEACO MeacoDry Arete One 12L Dehumidifier & Air Purifier, £180, is a dual machine that both helps with any humidity in the home but cleans the air with its medical-grade HEPA filter. This reportedly ‘removes up to 99.95% of particles in the air’. I tested it out earlier this year and had this to say.
Editor Sam Jones is also a dehumidifier fan and loves his SmartAir 20L Dehumidifier from Yimbly. He said: “So far, I’ve been delighted with how effectively it’s been drying laundered clothes. With a young child and the inevitable messes that come with them, the laundry basket is never empty for long, so it’s crucial to keep up with drying clothes.
“The SmartAir dehumidifier has been a game-changer in this regard so far. I hang the clothes on an airer, set the dehumidifier to laundry mode and close the door. I’ve found that light items are dry within a few hours, while heavier items like towels take a bit longer, as you’d expect.”
Back to the HumiZap dehumidifier, boasting a ‘low energy’ operation, the gadget features an easy to read digital display that shows the relative humidity in percentage. If percentage doesn’t really mean anything, it has a colour chart to indicate the level of humidity – blue (<50%), green (50%~70%), yellow (>75%), and red, which means the device is full of water – the window on the device will also show this – and will likely switch off.
Users can also set a target humidity, at which point the machine will turn off automatically, plus there’s a timer function to set the dehumidifier to run for a set period over 24 hours. For those who want the home gadget to constantly drain for those whose homes suffer from damp, its auto drainage function comes with a water outlet pipe to vent the the water outside.
