Danny Jones appeared carefree as he enjoyed a day out with his McFly bandmate Dougie Poynter after it was confirmed that Maura Higgins was returning to TV following their kiss

Danny Jones has made the most of the warmer weather and scorching sun as he headed out on a motorbike ride with his bandmate Dougie Poynter. The outing came just hours after it emerged that Maura Higgins is set to make her return to television over a month after she was seen kissing the married McFly star.

The pair hit headlines after they were pictured kissing at a booze fuelled BRIT Awards after party on March 1. Following the scandal, Danny’s wife Georgia is said to have spent time away from the musician but over four weeks later, she is back at the family home and has been throwing herself into work.

On Sunday, Danny revealed to fans that he and Dougie had headed out on a day out, kicking back on motorbikes as they soared through the country under the glaring sun before heading to a pub for a cool down. Taking to Instagram, Danny shared a snap of what appeared to be lime cordial and soda water as they kept hydrated.

While they’re known for their pop tunes, the duo had an alternative rock edge to them as they posed on their huge motorbikes while offering a smouldering pose for the camera as though they were straight out of a movie. “Hope you’re all having a great weekend,” Danny captioned his upload which has been liked over 32,000 times.

“Welcome back Danny. The galaxy defenders have missed you,” said one fan. A second added: “Missed u mush, have a gorgeous weekend and don’t forget to be kind to yourself.”

A third added: “You made a mistake – we all do. Hope you’re ok. Hope you and your wife work things out. She seems lovely and you seem lovely. Best wishes to you both.”

On , it was revealed that Maura was lining up her TV return and will be appearing on the BBC’s Blankety Blank, hosted by Bradley Walsh. The reality star has kept a low profile since the kiss, which she hasn’t commented on and instead jetted out to Los Angeles just days later.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Since that unfortunate incident, Maura’s kept to modelling jobs and posting glossy social media videos, but this will be her first TV appearance. She’s opening herself up to ribbing and scrutiny, but the BBC has ensured the drunken kiss stays off-limits because it’s a family show.”

While Maura hasn’t commented on the incident, Danny issued a grovelling apology to his wife and family. In a statement shared almost two weeks after the kiss.

He said: “Hello everyone, sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately.

“I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny.” At the time, a source close to Danny told the Mirror: “Danny has been mortified about whats happened and the awful situation he has put everyone in. He cares so deeply about his family and hopes his words will draw a line under what has been a deeply upsetting time, for everyone.

“Georgia and his son are absolutely everything to him. Throughout all this, he has been so thankful for the support of his fans. He just wants to move on, and heal in private.”
