Lola Amuah and her partner Pete were left stunned after discovering a pair of designer boots in their local charity shop – and they couldn’t believe their luck when seeing the price

You never quite know what treasures await when browsing a charity shop, which is precisely what makes it so appealing, as the pieces you discover are frequently unique. Some shoppers have turned this into an opportunity, deliberately visiting charity shops and other pre-loved retailers to uncover bargain items to later resale on platforms such as Vinted and eBay.

Among these entrepreneurs are Lola Amuah and her partner Pete, who’ve built a livelihood by sourcing second-hand discoveries and selling them on to other purchasers for profit. Lola regularly uses social media to document their shopping trips, sharing their go-to techniques for finding the finest items in each charity shop.

In one clip, the duo were browsing through one outlet when a member of staff suggested an alternative, nearby charity shop in Leamington Spa, describing it as among the finest establishments in the vicinity. Upon learning the recommended charity shop receives all its donations from London, they promptly made their way there to investigate potential bargains.

“I’m feeling really nervous, this could be the best thing ever,” Lola remarked upon reaching the premises, immediately spotting some promising finds as she entered.

The first item that caught her eye was a blue long-sleeved dress featuring a nature-inspired print from & Other Stories, reduced to £6, describing her discovery as ‘actually wild’. She then examined a checked blazer and a blue denim button-up shirt from Eddie Bauer which tempted her, though she acknowledged already owning too many similar items.

Lola’s focus then shifted to Pete, who was clutching a pair of black lace-up boots while she appeared baffled by something he’d discovered about the shoes in question.

“They’re not just shoes,” he remarked as he passed the boots to Lola for her to work out what made them so remarkable, given they were priced at £9 in the charity shop.

Lola gasped upon spotting the Loewe logo inside the boots, along with the marking on the rear of the sole. Following some investigation, the duo quickly established that the boots originally retailed at £900 per pair.

“I think I’m just gonna get them just because I can,” Pete declared. “It’s the first thing I picked up.”

“That donation has come from London,” Lola stated confidently at the conclusion of the footage.

Lola and Pete weren’t alone in their amazement at the discovery, as numerous viewers promptly headed to the comments section to recount their own encounters at that particular charity shop.

“I got a jaded London skirt from there that was like 90 quid for a tenner,” one individual commented, while another remarked: “Can’t believe you found Loewe in there! I go all the time and always find good stuff!”

“Went straight to Google Maps to see how far Leamington Spa is lol, is it worth the two hour drive for this chazza shop?” someone else wondered.

While another person claimed the pair ‘only cared about labels’, Lola proceeded to clarify: “I actually don’t care about the brand but my hope is to bring more people into charity shops. Many say ‘it’s all tat’, ‘it’s all Shein’ and that’s just not true. You can find insane high quality items that anyone can afford and I love that about thrifting.”
