Asda customers have left a number of positive reviews about the heatwave-ready product
Britain’s soaring temperatures have sparked a rush to cool down, with shoppers looking for affordable ways to make the heat more bearable. From fans to cooling accessories, retailers are seeing increased interest as the latest heatwave continues.
One item now attracting attention at Asda promises to help people cope with the warmer weather. It’s available at a budget-friendly price and has already started catching shoppers’ eyes, with stock levels now dwindling.
Asda operates more than 1,000 locations across the UK, including superstores, Asda Express convenience shops and petrol stations. Alongside groceries, shoppers can also browse a wide selection of homeware, garden accessories, electricals, health and beauty products, making it a destination for far more than the weekly food shop.
The 16 Inch Pedestal Fan is proving quite popular, and usually retails at a more-than-affordable £25 – but has been reduced to £19. If any units are available, they can be picked up in-store or ordered via home delivery.
Customers can choose from a range of shopping options, including standard home delivery, one-hour express delivery and Click & Collect. Standard delivery slots typically cost between £1 and £7, depending on the day and time, while express delivery starts from £8.50.
A £40 minimum spend applies to standard home deliveries, with a £4 charge added to smaller orders. Click & Collect is free on baskets worth £25 or more, while frequent shoppers can cut delivery costs by signing up to an Asda Delivery Pass, with prices starting from around £3.95 a month.
The fan features a 16-inch blade behind a white-painted mesh safety guard and offers three speed settings, allowing users to adjust the airflow to suit their needs. Standing at 1.2 metres tall, it has a 640mm cross base for stability and comes with a 1.5-metre power cord fitted with a UK plug, while also meeting CE, ERP and RoHS safety and efficiency standards.
Shoppers have left a number of positive reviews too, with one saying: “This fan is easy to handle and lightweight, yet built with proper quality. It’s simple to assemble, and the 3 speed settings provide excellent airflow — settings 2 and 3 are perfect when you need a stronger breeze.
“The rotating head is smooth and easy to adjust. Highly recommended for the price. Compared to other fans, this one offers better quality at a lower cost.”
A second added: “I bought this last week. It’s helped massively to cool down our living room in the heat we’ve had. Would definitely recommend.”
Meanwhile, a third said: “Nice fan does the job well and good value for money.” But it’s not all positive, with one buyer admitting: “In general the fan is ok, it’s a fan! However when I turn it on it sounds like a helicopter starting up, and when it’s working in the oscillating mode it creaks and squeaks as though the motor is really old and in need of maintenance.
“I would have liked a longer power lead and also to adjust it to stand a bit taller. This was a convenient purchase as I needed a fan but I think better can be found for less if you take the time to look around. I won’t recommend this fan.”
